2025-05-12 13:49:26 +0000 UTCBarry Bonds career WAR being 162 is an all-time Hokey Baseball Stat. And Hayes, fwiw, Darin Erstad was a starting punter in COLLEGE and not just HIGH SCHOOL. . (In fairness to Erstad, modern defensive stats show that he was incredible in CF; in 2002 he had 4.2 defensive wins (BRef). So he led the Angels in WAR (6.7) the year they beat Bonds (11.7) in the WS. But in fairness to FJM, in the years it was active (05-07), the mega-genius Mike Scioscia was playing Punter Erstad at 1b; 0.6 dWar over three seasons.)
