Patron Update: Current Projects & Upcoming Patron Vids

It seems like I've gained a few new Patrons since my last post, so welcome here and thanks for deciding to become a Patron! I usually do these update posts once a month or so, although it's been a little bit longer in this case.

I just wanted to keep everybody up to date on what's going on. If you've followed these updates or watch my Saturday morning streams, you'll know that I'm currently working on the first in a series of Ultima videos I plan on releasing periodically over the next year. This particular video is covering the history of Akalabeth & Ultima I, two of the most formative games in the history of RPGs. Rather than being a straight review, it's a deep dive into the history of the series, the company 'Origin', as well as it's founder, Richard Garriott, AND a review. Even though this video is less than an hour, which is on the shorter end of what I usually make, it's the most intensive editing project I've ever done. This is partially due to the "documentary-lite" style, which involves finding lots of old pictures & obscure footage to supplement the narration of the video. I've been working really hard on getting this together, and I'm hoping it should only be another week or so.

On that note, some people have asked me "How do you get videos out so fast??". I work about 8 hour a day on my channel stuff, often 6 or 7 days a week. This gives me plenty of time to work on multiple videos at once, which is what I've been doing for the last couple of months. For instance, I beat Akalabeth & Ultima while I was making my King's Field video. This gave me plenty of time to immediately immerse myself in writing as soon as I was ready to go. So, as one video is finished, another one is kind of queued up and ready to be worked on. I'm happy with the variety.

In addition to Ultima, I've also been playing Lost Odyssey in my free time with the intention of doing a video on that game as well. Ultima will be more of a documentary style, while Lost Odyssey will probably be closer to the "narrative reviews" that I've done for games like Shadow Hearts Covenant or Golden Sun. That is to say, going over development history, then playing through the game, talking about the plot beats while discussing the finer points of the game. Thanks to YOU, I was able to grab an Xbox One and a capture card (my old one didn't really cut it), so thanks for helping make my videos better... and possible!

Me & my compatriots (the venerable Jess & Naffer, if you're familiar with them from my streams) have been recording a Let's Play of Dark Seed 2. Purely a Mystery Science Theater goofing on the game. Some technical difficulties have made it a bit of a pain in the ass, so even though we've got about 4 or 5 hours ready to be dropped, I'll have to replay and re-record an end section of the game. Hopefully we can get that done sooner rather than later. I've got some fun plans for the Games That Made Me series for December, since Christmastime always gets me in a nostalgic mood.

Thanks again for your continued support! As a man hopelessly addicted to workohol, I'm very optimistic about the upcoming year for my channel, and the many adventures within the Ultima universe (and beyond) to come. Take it easy everyone.

To be honest, I'm not sure where that's at. IFAVG is the one who recorded it, and last I spoke to him he was waiting to start a VOD channel on which it could be posted. He's swamped with work right now to make a Metroid video, but next time I have an opportunity I'll see how that's coming along!
