Small updates?

I’ve been getting more and more messages suggesting that it might be better to release smaller updates more frequently, instead of developing one big update over a long period and releasing it all at once.

I’d like to hear your opinion and show a real example.

Right now, quite a lot of work has already been done on version 0.7a, and many things are in progress at the same time. The parts that already look presentable include a couple of new scenes, one game-over scene, and some updated gameplay systems.

Would you prefer to get an update that includes only these few finished things, or would you rather wait for a relatively large update?

Your votes will directly influence how future versions of the game are released.

What/who is MattyDev?

Can we get a release date please? Or a rough release date? Can’t wait to try new features for so long!!!

Huge updates, I don't mind waiting longer as long as it's done when it's done. The smallest the updates will be, the more time it will take for communicating on small updates and less time for game development progress.

i think small updates is a good idea to keep ppl engaged in the project. however i didnt mind the larger ones cuz then its a like a big ole gift to unpack

no

Your intention to gather votes and set the direction of the project is very admirable. However, I hope you stay focused and develop in the most appropriate direction without wavering, so you can ultimately achieve what you want.

Smaller updates, I think. The players don't have to wait so long. Also it's better for you: if players see a steady stream of updates at a reasonable interval (I'm not saying an update every two weeks of course; Keep it real) they will be more likely to subscribe and pay money. Very long intervals between updates always come with the risk of the developer giving up and abandoning the game. People don't want to risk paying money for a long time just to be abandoned. If they see a steady stream of updates, they are reassured their money is well spent. By the way, have I said this is BY FAR the best NSFW game ever? You're doing a smashing job

Chris

only new content updated

Lethargy

The big updates are fun, but you're just one person. It's easier on both you and the players if there's a little trickle of content each time. For example, Mud Blood Prologue comes out with bits and pieces once a month, and it's generally a nice little bump in content. It keeps people following. Not saying you should do once a month, just that smaller updates for solo devs are generally better. Animation updates where we get one or two sexy new things are cool. Map addition updates would have to be their own focus cause it generally implies new enemies and therefore animations. Gameplay and mechanic updates would need to be their own thing. Just whatever you do don't turn into the next MattyDev. Please keep backups, and keep your focus lol.

small up date is ok

If you are confident you won't release small bits that you will be reworking time and time again, then I am for small; otherwise, I would prefer one big release with regular development updates so we know you're still alive and kicking.

Personally, I find regular game updates more interesting. When you're waiting for a major update for a long time, you lose interest. However, this may be because you haven't been around for a while)
