Added 2026-01-22 11:09:19 +0000 UTCHi everyone! I’ve successfully moved my ass to another country, rented an apartment for a year, and I’m getting settled here. I’ll need another 2–3 days, and then I’ll get back to developing our favorite game!
There were some unexpected issues and extra expenses along the way. During the flight, my computer got slightly damaged. One of the feet on the system unit broke apart, there’s a scratch and a dent, and one 16 GB DDR4 RAM stick inside died.
I also had to buy a new monitor, since I couldn’t take the old one with me.
On top of that, rent here costs three times more than what I paid back home. Financially it’s going to be tough, but we’ll get through it.
Thankfully, there were always people around who helped me with my suitcases completely for free, on my own, I can barely even lift the one with my clothes xD
Overall, I’m alive and well, everything’s okay for now.
By the way, it was my first time flying on a plane. It was cool and a bit scary. My ears got really blocked during the flight. But now airplanes are my favorite type of transport. I didn’t really get to look out the window, since the plane was the cheapest one and the windows were positioned behind the seatbacks instead of next to the passengers, kind of meh. And it was night. But it’s not a big deal, there were plenty of emotions anyway.

Cannot imagine how uncomfortable this was to chose to do, let alone follow through with. I'm glad you're safe and at a place where you can begin to build a new chapter in your life. Hopefully it is more blessing than burden. Thanks for the update.

2026-01-29 17:35:32 +0000 UTCThe first flight is always a defining experience. I flew Easyjet to Geneva for the 2015 Motor Show. Chew on the board before takeoff to prevent clogged ears. If it can be proven that the airline made a mistake and your plane was damaged because of it, report it because you are entitled to compensation in case of damage to your luggage. Unfortunately, I don't know the value. Did you have passenger and baggage insurance? I think that can help too. Good luck in your new country! Be careful with your PC: a RAM stick failing after a bump can sometimes be caused by a problem with the slot on the motherboard. Remember to thoroughly test your system's stability before embarking on long build sessions for the game, to avoid losing your work.
