2021-03-08 23:56:09 +0000 UTCTop control is difficult to get and highly advantages to have. It's very clearly exerting octagon control and skill. Grappling at it's core is about fighting for position. Not about damaging an opponent. Grappling looses alot of value if scored like you said

You should have to do damage to score and wrestling and ground control can be a great means to that end. I'm not crazy about take downs counting for much either for the same reason. Maybe "damage" could be broadly defined beyond ground and pound to smothering, choking, cranking etc all those things that can result in submissions should count as damage. But just pressing your big body on a man? Pause.
