GS in 6 next round, Grizzlies aren't as good as our team experience wise, pretty positive because we also have the best player in the West and maybe the NBA in Steph.

Alch, I'm neither an optimist nor a pessimist. I think I'm paranoid. As a fan, I live in a perpetual state of anxiety about the Warriors' chances at any given moment. Why do I do this to myself? I just love how they play and I'm willing to live with the outcome, anxiety and all 😂

I was way out of town performing music doing a solo show right when the game started. I only got to follow the second half and I’m glad I wasn’t freaking out watching it because they sure could’ve lost that. Yes I do think they’ll have to be lucky to get away with the lack of size. It’s like they’re entering the hardest competition with a bunch of duct tape and spackle on their ship. Steph did say that they had kind of forgotten how to close out a team which is helpful to know-it’s possible whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. There’s absolutely no way that James Wiseman would really have much impact on these types of games-I think it’s fally that they didn’t get a capable big who at least knows how to play playoff basketball a bit that could help. I kind of think it’s 50-50 if they make it to the next round after the semi finals. I do like how dream I talk about yokach because that’s professional respect coming from a very good player about an amazing player for Denver.

yeah, kerr seemed a bit indignant about that. yet, steph and the gang do try to attack jokic--sometimes slowing in front of him to get the foul (like steph did). they seemed to target jokic because he was slow and tired. and while they don't hunt the fouls like cp3, but they almost seemingly avoid contact while shooting to try to get the bucket in--doesn't it seem? in past finals they definitely targeted key people (harden) to tire them out--which led to some thrilling come from behind 3rd and 4th quarters... so maybe tiring out the key player is ok with kerr, but angling for fouls is not

when i just started play basketball (which was already quite late) i also had issues with rebounding, i focused too much on “predicting” where the ball would go and I was trying to use elevation to grab boards. Later on i realise boxing somebody out is actually more important than pursuing the ball

My Gahd! I thought we're gonna lose that one. That stretch in the 4th when we were getting stops but could not score felt like hell. Seeing Steph hesitate at times or pass up a shot that ended in a turn over or bad shot is so frustrating. JUST TAKE THE SHOT STEPH! LOL Glad he took over though. My Gahd!

Yeah the first thought I had when last night's game finished was, "Okay awesome they took care of round one. But damn.. they ain't beating the Grizzlies or the Wolves playing like that!" At the end of the day, the problem of size and the sheer athleticism gap still exists and Warriors still have yet to truly solve the problem.. if it can even be solved. It'll surely take a ton of grit, effort, a certain stoicism (to weather the foul calls), as well as accuracy in order to overcome the difference. Not to mention the willingness to stray from the set system in place and be able to switch between different modes of play on the fly and when the situation best fits it.

The system you are talking about at 0:55 is really just us working around Draymond's inability to shoot. The Denver Nuggets were clueless the first 2 games on all this offball location but any of the above average playoff teams have gotten better at anticipating it, hell they have seen it dozens of times over the years. Motion offense is still effective but Draymond as the primary playmaker has become exponentially outdated.

What I was hinting at was Kuminga or GP in place of JP at times. It’s really Steph, Klay, Wiggs Dray and then a dyi5th spot to what we need. Now without Andre that opens the door for Kuminga and GP

Alc, if you could suggest one thing to Kuminga to make him a better rebounder, what would it be?
With his frame and hops, he could be dominant, but I’m guessing he grew up playing more guard.

During the break between the 3rd & 4th quarter, the TNT sideline reporter asked Kerr if he was going to attack Jokic with 4 fouls. Kerr said they were just going to play the game and their team does not try to take advantage of those type of situations. I think that was a telling answer and it reveals a lot about Kerr as a coach. This makes me think he's probably not going to look to attack Ja or D-Lo. You are right that in a long playoff series, teams are going to sniff out all our off-ball actions. If we have Draymond and Looney on the floor together, it essentially becomes a 5 on 3 situation. We are going to have to get creative to try and overcome their size advantage and its going to be up to the players individually (Steph & Poole specifically) to call their own number and play iso-ball. As you said, however, the 3 point shot is the great equalizer. If we can shoot 40+% from 3 as a team and make 10-12+ more 3-pointers a game, it's going to help overcome any size deficiency. I'm calling it now, I think we are going to see either Porter Jr or GP2 start at some point in the 2nd round over Looney and have Poole come off the bench.

Yes, exactly! Death to the death lineup or at least the death lineup that doesn't work but also long live the death lineup! Seriously for the death lineup to work, Klay has to become the kind of defender on the 3's and 4's that he used to be on the 1/2/3's a tall task to make that death lineup work.

I'm just glad to be done with Jokic, going in to this series I was in the minority of thinking that this Nuggets team was the worst possible matchup for us. No one can take advantage of our lack of size like Jokic and Cousins can, no other team relentlessly pounds it in the post and as effectively as a monster of a human like the Joker. I like our matchup with everyone else left other than the Celtics

Thanks Alc!
Cutting/slashing/driving/high % Wiggs is indeed good to see, but I want to see movement for him to kick more, as there’s too much stand & watch when Wiggs has the ball.
Can we respond to size and athleticism of Griz/Wolves? AG’s first half w 15 pts says no. His 2nd half w zero points says yes. I’m rewatching for what Dubs did differently, if anything. We’re about to face far better versions of AG.
The KAT/Naz duo could be as tough as Jokic/Boogie, but less consistent. Clark/JJJ too. Our margin for error is so slim.
One thing that helps me feel more optimistic after last night is that Dubs won with a relatively cold shooting night. 2 or 3 more 3’s go in and life gets rosier, even if we’re getting beat up inside.
Go groove,

i agree with u, alc. This warrior team is mix young and vet along with core. I think the young just need to the experience and i believe curry, klay, green will carry the young. That is also make the games fun to watch because we dont expect to dominate and every game is tough game to win. As long as we are healthy, i like our chances.

Something I’m glad I’ve seen so far is the improved shot selection from Klay and Steph compared to the regular season. Klay hasn’t been jacking many contested pull-ups, and Steph has mixed it up with drives to the rim and occasional middys. Glad GP2 made the impact he did because I feel like he might have to be part of the closing lineup if they face MEM. That really is the main question going forward. Is the “death” lineup as playable against better teams who can take advantage of Poole and the smaller back court? But at the same time, what happens when defenses are sniffing every action and there’s a need to get a bucket from this team without terrific 1-on-1 play?

Was at the game last night and you have to give the Chase crowd some credit.
The 4th quarter from the point Dray hit that 3 to the end of the game was as loud as I've ever heard Roaracle. Sound was reverberating around the arena and my ears were ringing. Such a fun and electric environment and a massive improvement from the regular season games.
Like you said though, in Oakland the crowd was hyphy for more of the game regardless of how the team was playing instead of only at the end when we were outplaying them. Hope we see some of that in later rounds when the stakes get even higher.

I would have been interested to see your take on the Box-and-1 they had on Jokic, with Klay being the primary roamer. Thought that was some creative coaching, and wonder if that could be applied to the next series? Klay is a much better on D when he is engaged and locked in on someone. But it could be anyone, I assume GP2 gets the Box-and-1 assignment on either Ja, Ant or DLo.

I agree the level of hype from what was all of 11 minutes of that lineup was off the chain, getting national media in a frenzy. Everybody and their stepmomma lining up to give it a name. Gotta be honest, that was one of the worst playoff "wins" Ive ever seen. Yes they won, and thank goodness they closed it out. But out of the 48 minutes of basketball, thats gotta be the worst 45 minutes Ive ever seen from a "superior" team on a home court playoff close out game.
They came out asleep and totally flat. Shame on them really. I was appalled watching this game. I had tickets for this game and sold them last minute cuz I couldnt make it and thank GOD I didnt waste money on it.
If not for GP2, they really wouldve blown this shit and be heading back to Denver. Draymond turned into Ben Simmons and got bailed out by GP2 TWICE. What an ungodly performance.
That being all said. They did finally decide to wake up in the final minutes. Jokic was on one hamstring and still almost kicked out asses. Steph had some clutch baskets and again, GP2 single handedly won this game.
Series over. Moving on.
So many Warriors fans are saying theyll take Minnesota over Memphis. And while, generally, that is probably the "easier" matchup on paper, both teams provide SERIOUS problems against our team. The size and athleticism. Brooks or PatBev? Both annoying pieces of shit to play against. Ja or Ant?
At this rate, I honestly dont know who would be the "better" match up. All I see are two evils and neither are the lesser of them.
All I'm hoping and DEMANDING is that the Warriors better not come into the next series with the kind of energy they showed throughout this game. They didnt deserve to win this game, but the Nuggets are so bad that they gave it away.
The Warriors need to strap in for a goddamn WAR next series. I honestly believe this upcoming series would be harder than the WCF if they make it there.

This might expose me, as a younger fan of the game, but I had a thought watching game 5 of Grizzlies T-Wolves a few days ago. Because of the way they were being played early, Dillon Brooks was taking a lot of shots without a second thought...and clanging a bunch of them. I feel like we have a good chance in this series if we force Dillon brooks to be the offensive hub. I know he has a knack for making timely buckets, but I feel like it would be hard to lose a playoff game against them if Brooks is taking 20-22 shots a game and we're bottling up Bane and Morant. Your thoughts, Alc?
