Yes. And sorry to write this just after reading his latest idiotic comment. I couldn't help myself

Jim

nah I was early on the Kyrie is wack train... im just saying I can see how he charms these guys around the league in passing...if you dont really spend real time with him

Athletic Alchemy

Alc, I have to respectfully disagree on Kyrie. There's not much worse than the guy who thinks he's smarter than everyone else. I think Kyrie must be absolutely awful to be around and that effects team chemistry. As much as I hate Bron, Kyrie actually only won with him. Without LeBron, he's been shit. I still think he's a brilliant individual player, but he's the kind of teammate that makes dudes want to head to Cancun early

Jim

Alch, I'm the exact same player as you in pickup. On offence, I shy away from contact the moment I feel any resistance and settle for shots going away from the basket. But on defense, I get extremely physical and try to punk offensive players for trying to go at me. I dont know why I'm like that. I think it may be because I was a slightly late bloomer as a shooter, so my way of getting respect on the court in my youth was being a dog on defense. It may also be because of pride. I always found getting scored on humiliating, so I would show a lot of resistance towards any fools who think they can go at me.

Continued gratitude, Alch! I had the same thoughts on Montrezl Harrell, but then googled to find a strong connection w Doc. On paper, I like his fit for the 76ers, but only if he’s kept straight by Doc and others. How much nuts & bolts of shooting form do y’all think Kerr digs into over a season or camp? I hope Kuminga is truly open to what you’re describing so well, an obvious weakness he needs to address if he really wants to reach his best career. Go groove

Chip Tingle

Interesting, a committee.... not sure I like that concept for shooting tbh

Athletic Alchemy

All very solid takes as usual. I feel like Steph is legit leverage for Dray. Your point on Kyle, he just makes these baffling personnel moves constantly. Maybe he needs a GM that he has to answer to, not the other way around.

Athletic Alchemy

Appreciate you always taking the time Ryan 🙏🏽

Athletic Alchemy

Thank you sir 🙏🏻

When the hell did Kuminga have time to slack off — if that is the thing Smith is intimating? The playoffs weren’t over a week before he was in Africa prepping for the FIBA playoffs. My guess is he was late to a couple practices and some assistant coach tattled to Smith that he doesn’t have the proper attitude.  I, too, would prioritize keeping the youngsters over Draymond, but the problem is that losing Dray might alienate Steph. They might be trapped into trading Poole and/or Wiggins for that reason.  My guess is that the Bears game was a fluke that will be forgotten by midseason  but if I were developing a metric to evaluate coaches I’d put penalties at the top of the list. I like his smash mouth prejudices but his loyalty to Jeff Wilson is foolish. He should have tried the rookie.

well damn

I have had a lot of success with younger shooters having them focus on bringing the ball up thru the brow it will go out on its own.. "just worry about it getting up, it will come out on its own " granted their shot isnt super funky just low or a hitch

Athletic Alchemy

You're spot on with JK shooting a beat earlier. I had the same problem when transitioning from shooting from my chin to my forehead. A coach told me to stop rising up and then shooting (like an old school jumper). And instead, shoot on the way up which helped me make my shot fluid again and connected my legs to my release. JK is just so powerful that I'm sure it's tough to make that transition when you just bend your toes and you have a 20 inch vert lol

Ford Carlson

smartest guy in the room out smarting himself

Athletic Alchemy

I can't deal with Kyrie at all. Even that small snippet in the beginning annoys me in relation to what a pseudo intellectual dumbass this guy is. Nice pod Alc

Julian

What ive always found interesting about Kyle Shanahans playcalling is he rigidly sticks to the same run game all game until they are trying to hold the lead and should be killing clock and shortening the game then suddenly he almost abandons the run and starts taking deep shots. i personally think hes blown 2 super bowls doing it

KuraiT

Alch, warriors do have a “shooting committee”. They are credited with fixing Wiggins shots: https://www.mercurynews.com/2022/01/07/how-a-step-back-has-helped-andrew-wiggins-make-a-big-leap-with-warriors/amp/

He’s too rigid man… it’s funny cuz I feel like it could be prime Joe Montana back there and we still here about him limiting the playbook

Athletic Alchemy

Love the off-season Niners talk. Trey's gotta develop a better sense of when to leave the pocket and extend plays. From what I'm noticing, he's focusing too much on staying in the pocket, which is probably what the coaching staff is instructing him to do. Trey can definitely take a page out of what Fields was doing throughout that game. The only difference is Fields played an entire season and probably learned pocket presence by getting sacked 36 times last year. My problem with Shanahan is that he likes to limit the playbook based on what believes his QB can handle. That may work with Jimmy G but he's just hindering the development of Trey.

It would be quite ironic in a KD trade back to the Warriors with Draymond repairing all those burnt down bridges. Cuz it wouldn't be Wiggins sent to Brooklyn, his value is too high to add all the assets the Nets would demand in return. It would be Dray + the young core + picks for Durant that makes more sense in an exchange since the Nets wouldn't agree to a deal that didn't include Poole. (I wouldn't do it but) a Curry, Klay, Wiggs, KD, Looney lineup is without a sliver of doubt the best starting lineup in the association.

Stevie Ray

Hey Amit, will be starting a pod this month as we get closer to the preseason 🍀

Stevie Ray

Do you also do pods on your substack or is it just written pieces for now?

abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Wendell would be a nice fit in the Bay, but if you listen to Orlando beat writers and Magic fans on pods they're way to high on him to be trading for him at any sort of reasonable price. They'd take the deal proposed in the mail bag-- But Poole won't be in any lateral exchange style trades Unlike most young 1-way guards about to get paid, Jordan has high perceived stock around most of the league not just with his own fanbase. This theoretical stock is pushed alot by the Ringer and especially Simmons but it extends out into the other sectors. If he was already on a bigger contract he would fetch Wendell and Suggs on his own, especially since Paola has been identified as potential high end facilitator, Suggs' lack of a jumper leaves him as the mis-shaped piece of the puzzle in their young core. All that said, from ownerships perspective, a deal that includes Poole, Wise, and Kuminga, also includes the rest of the Warriors draft capital and is for a top 8 talent, not simply to shave salary and get a nice complementary big.
