Warriors vs Hornets |GM-71|

#specialneedszorro had me rolling on the kitchen floor at 1 a.m. I needed that. Thank you!

Märt.

The Warriors this season are noticeably better when Dray plays vs when he doesn't. Klay on the other hand...

Julian

Didn't think I'd be saying this at the start of the season, but I'd rather have CP over Dray on the team. I'd rather pay CP like 15-20 mil and trade Dray. Obviously not going to happen, but still.

Vulacior

draymond and cp3 out the door in the offseason.... addition by subtraction

Dami I

@Neal, you beat me to it. Bigger body on the dubs=slightly less work for Draymond.

decomplexify5000

I'm sorry...this is measurable. Steph had an okay night in Charlotte; the rest of the team played really well and Draymond did not (see Al's breakdown). Draymond can't even control himself around Grant "Effing" Williams and the coaching staff did not even consider calling a time out and bench him the rest of the game. As much as we all have understood how much Draymond brings to the table when we are winning, how often have we lost this season and last because Draymond isn't engaged / has been ejected / has been suspended? There are real numbers to missed games, ejections, technical fouls, punches to the face, etc. We can clearly say we lost a ring because of Draymond's antics. So, 1 of 6 finals...that's 15%. If we apply the Draymond 15% tax to all games last season and this season, we're in a much different spot in both post seasons. If I were the coach, I'd bring in a big center to alleviate Draymond from doing too much. It must be physically taxing to be 6'8" (at best) and banging with bigger bodies all the time. Work smarter, not harder...and the coaches should be making these decisions. Personally, I don't care for the on and off court commentary. Draymond is not the victim in 100% of these situations. He should just apologize with sincerity to the punched/choked recipients and his team, and contribute in a positive manner. Perception-wise, something is really twisted. He's might have a high basketball IQ, but has a low EQ. He's not the Eadweard Muybridge of hoops.

decomplexify5000

@John Pettus this is old thinking, respectfully. Yes, Steph running around constantly with Draymond distributing was what got this team 4 rings, but it's not going forward. I think you dramatically underestimate how much of Dray's game besides his ability to feed Steph has fallen off. He's 34 going on 35, he can't defend the 5 anymore at all really. He's not running that well, and of course, his behavior and lack of focus on about 50% of games is making him a huge liability. Right now we have no choice but to rely on him because he's the ONLY size besides Loon and TJD, but believe me, this team would look waaaaaay better with someone like say, Gafford or Lively in his spot there instead. Times have changed, and Steph, Kerr, and the whole system need to change with it. Steph needs to adapt into a distributing true PG role, Kerr needs to accept running a more traditional offense like what the rest of the league is doing, and Draymond needs to retire.

I would like to hear from Draymond's defenders about why we should be keeping him on the roster. The main argument has always been "Well, we need Draymond to win games!". Well, the evidence this season clearly shows we are a mediocre team. Even if Draymond didn't miss all those games from suspension, how much better are we? Maybe we're the 7th seed at best? Whatever value he brings to winning is overshadowed by all the other bullshit he brings. Some may argue that he should be kept as a mentor. But from all the tantrums, physical altercations, and lack of accountability he's shown all season, I question how much of a positive influence he is on the youth. Hell, last summer on Paul George's podcast, I remember Draymond admitting that after 2 years, he still didn't have much of a relationship with Jonathan Kuminga. And given everything we've seen this season, I doubt that relationship has grown much. To be honest, Chris Paul has shown me more mentorship to the youth in 1 season than Draymond has in 3!

Jacob

@k fish Steph is the starting point guard. The days of him running around off ball like "Sonic the Hedgehog", as Alch says, are over. He is Point Steph now. Podz takes over in the non-Steph minutes, which is what CP's role is (supposedly) now. Everyone else on the roster besides them needs to have size and/or athleticism.

Neal X

I'd rather Draymond just retire and make it easier on everyone, including himself. Take up podcasting full time.

Neal X

Trademond always been on the menu for me, shit is embarrassing to watch. Forget the elbow, that groin shot hits and shit is really over for him, broadcast side of things too.

John Z

Starting point guard? Hell no lol

k fish

Kuminga ego? Lol he is extremely efficient and doesn't even usually take normal number 2 option shots, he In his role to save the vets from themselves

k fish

I think you dramatically underestimate the impact Draymond has on winning, and especially winning in a Steph-centric offense. He makes Steph's life IMMEASURABLY easier, and that's worth a lot right there.

John Pettus

Good question. I just don't think we've seen Wiggs have that competitive fire and give-a-shit since 2022.

John Pettus

Teens, I'd guess. For a while BP was blowing him away in the re-draft, but I'd say they've caught up since TJD has gotten playing time.

John Pettus

I could NOT understand why the old guys were in the game in the 4th quarter, up 20. MAYBE you give them 3 minutes if it's a good team. But better to rest them the first 3, then if it's still under control the next 3. And only pop them in if the bench mob lets things get under double digits. Like Alch said, I thought we were trying not to wear Steph down?

John Pettus

Wow, that’s dope if you’re even thinking anywhere up there. Me? I have no idea. That’s why I’m asking. I don’t watch nearly enough non-Warriors ball to have a view. Besides Podz, I could probably name five other players in his class off the top of my head. Wemby, Scoot, Jacquez, Thompson Twins, BMiller, Cam. And that kid on Memphis who cooked us. Okay, that’s eight I guess.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

4-6. Teams these days stay away from non shooters but everything else would move him up damn high I think. What do u think? - You guys r probably right, more like 12 give or take, he's also much older coming out. Which is a positive for us and our timeline but not for other teams maybe.

Russ

I’d love that trade but the clippers would never do that unless we toss in Podz, TJD, or JK. 1 of them I believe has to be packaged, Dray is a much less valuable asset than PG, it’s a tough problem.

Russ

I heard that Wiggs brother bolted home from his Euro league team to be with the family. Perhaps the parents are just pushing the boys to come home and stay home right now. Who knows the real dynamics but it does seem to be ongoing and not over. His trade potential with his salary and the bailing trait also not high at all

Russ

EU - u got it! To Adrian - yes true he helped a lot and I’ve defended his value, hell Steph benefits from Dray’s picks and passes tons, which we love but he has the longest leash in the NBA and he is now running amok on that leash. I just want him to grow up. And u r right trading him will be very difficult, he has much much less value around the league than he has for us so we won’t get shite for him.

Russ

like you said. he's relying more on the antics cuz he's lost a step. his defense is off of reputation rather than ability

I was listening to Fitz and Buke; they and most local media side step Kerr's and Draymond's follies for the year. Stephen A. went on the record to blame the players and that Kerr has too much history as a winning player and coach. It's just wrong.

decomplexify5000

I'd love to see Draymond locked in on getting double doubles.

decomplexify5000

Seems like he just doesn't care about his conditioning, getting to the play-in, and staying in the league.

decomplexify5000

Well the clippers don’t want PG maybe they’ll want Dray 🤣

Sarcasm 360

Y'all seen Suns remaining schedule? Freaking brutal. They could fall out of that 7/8. Just saying.. much better to have the safety of 2 shots to get in than 1

AK

I think people are too critical of Dray. He's human, he makes mistakes. He wasn't even that bad in this game. The dude helped us win championships, and for that I think he deserves a longer leash from us warrior fans. I believe we will regret it if he gets traded.

adrian salazar

What’s the consensus take on TJD’s redraft position?

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

If Wiggins comes to life and helps the Warriors have a meaningful playoff run a la 2023 Heat - he’d have the weirdest reputation in the league. Like, how would you even describe him?

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

“Steph, tell me about the fifth ring. I get to tend the fifth ring, right, Steph?”

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Ok 8 year old?

Russ

"emotional 5 year old" is a little too strong I would say.

Solomon Habtamu

Sick of Dray, not only his emotional immaturity, as I've said he's an emotional 5 year old, we all know that never changes, it's him as a player these days. I guess it started this year for me when he stubbornly let Jaylon Brown blow us out of the Celtic game. It's been said that he needs to play in a controlled rage, but isn't that part of growing up, learning how to play not half out of your mind with rage? He's not 20 anymore, but he never sees that him not maturing and learning to play without the childish selfishness is something he needs to learn how to do. I think Steph having the emotional reaction to him getting kicked out in the last game might have been Steph knowing that he can't keep him on the team anymore. That's a sad moment. Just like Lenny in Of Mice and Men after he mauled the last girl in the book, he might need to be let go, and Steph knows it now.

Russ

B Miller looking like one of them ones, man. Not his best night fr, but I could see him being the next American star behind Anthony Edwards that's in the old mold of those 2000s swingmen

yan't get right

I think Wiggins needs to assume the number 2 roll if we want to salvage this year. He has a much more diverse game vs the young Kuminga. I wonder if Kuminga's ego could handle that.

Christian Hollaway

Surprised you didn't mention Kerr stupidly challenging that foul call on Draymond. I don't care what Kerr says, he's an enabler.

Derrick Maples

"he can't do anything wrong" THANK YOU for throwing shade on this comment Alc. Truly, a pretty disgusting statement.

Sevrin Weiss

Im with you on Mood, I wouldn't be mad if they used him to bet back into the 1st rd this year tbh.. but probably just because its more fun to cover and scout a rook

Strong Foru

Haha I get ya. I hadn't gotten to the part of the vid where you do talk about the dust up with Grant yet either.

Neal X

Thats what I was getting at with Podz but didnt have the runway in the highlight to say it

Athletic Alchemy

I'd just like to correct you on one thing Alch: without CP AND Draymond next year we officially move BP to the point guard spot. He's demonstrated that he can take over as both their roles as a great distributor, AND as a leader. He's ready for it, I'm ready for it. I'm starting to wonder if Draymond isn't just straight up bipolar. Mood needs to be hitting those open 3's and glad he finally did it, but I'm not on the "we have to keep developing him at all costs because he's him" train. If we can use him in a trade to land us a great big next year I'm all for it, we build with JK, Podz, and TJD.

Neal X

These flying elbows and kicks to the groin are really ingrained into Drays movement patterns😂

sleeve nash

Ps-Love the idea of super rebounds. Throw in super 3s that are made 3s and one.

decomplexify5000

Dubs came out playing like it was a guaranteed win; turnovers by CP3 and Draymond's laziness were on full display. Coach needs to step in and sit those two. Warriors were up 21 points and they bring Curry back into the game. What kind of coaching is this exactly? Oh right, poor decision making. Regarding Draymond, the team and Curry needs to firmly acknowledge and move on. It's like being in an abusive relationship that's been on full display for two plus years. The podcast commentary after getting thrown out should be the final receipt. If Warriors don't make the play in, it's on Draymond, Kerr and management.

decomplexify5000

Dray looked BAD. I dont know how many times he over helped in the paint when you already had 6’9 TJD down there. With TJD in the game, you no longer need to over help. When will they understand that?!?!

Kahlil Baker

dray was looking mad guilty bruh lmaoo
