2024-05-27 23:45:51 +0000 UTCKAT fooled everyone in that Denver series. This series has shown us what he is always been. Kat's biggest issue has always been his decision-making on both ends of the floor. Think about it. How often was KAT put in a position to really have to "think" in the Denver series? Offensively, all he had to do was shoot 3s or pump fake his defender in the air and drive straight downhill knowing that Jokic won't even put a hand up. On defense, they just had him guard Jokic. Once again, the easiest to way to hide a dumb defender is just having them guard the ball. They don't have to really think in those situations. All they have to do is react and be a presence, which when taking KAT's physical attributes into account, can be very effective. Now in this Dallas series, we're seeing KAT being forced into a lot of decisions. On defense, he has a lot more help responsibility, which is exposing his lack of defensive IQ. And on offense, he is no longer dealing with Nurkic/Jokic at the rim. He is seeing Lively/Gafford. A good offensive player would exploit the help defense to pass to an open teammate. KAT, however, is incapable of that. He is very black and white in his decision-making. Once he makes up his mind to score, he will go headfirst to the basket even if there is a wall of defenders waiting for him. It's no surprise to me that he is shooting like shit.

After what u said about the Gobert situation, u think it would be worth it to not have him start being down 3-0? Like u said, it's prob not the best look for him as an asset. I still think the move would be to see what they can get for Kat as he's too up & down & really hasn't added much in this round But then, it looks like Ant is struggling to get to the paint/rim in this series as u have Gobert messin w the spacing or are there other reasons he is takin so many outside shots?
