The only main piece that they will lose is herb but they will be getting jk who is a future star who can create his own shot and is solid on defence covers both side and they will get wiggs too. The trade might help him as he gets a new scenario

You can ask young guys to be accountable, but they think to themselves, it’s BS that our minutes depend on good D and also good shot selection, but Klay’s minutes are a given. They will give Steph the pass he’s earned, but Klay hasn’t earned it for as long as our young guys have been around.

Only wrinkle I’ll add is that I do think they want to bring him back but only at a lower price than what he can probably get elsewhere & they want to wait to commit until some of the other pieces fall in to place. Which is basically (to your point) a passive aggressive way to say to Klay that he is no longer a core part of their vision of success moving forward. Which I think is too much to bear for Klay’s ego and the team probably should have known that. Glad to hear you’re going to be doing some scouting. You always bring some insightful takes. I’m hoping Oso Ighodaro makes your cut. Kid has decent size, high feel/iq & a mature game. Happy Father’s Day, Alch! Appreciate you!

He'd be a complete fool to play PR games with the fans and this organization at this point. Dude probably has ~200 mil. FAFO for the difference between $40 more and $60 more? Living on the Bay. Great weather. Driving his boat around. Can be in every venture fund he wants. Why would you risk leaving a bad last impression? (Answer: because the agent handling your negotiation only gets paid based on the number, and doesn't care about the other costs to the players' reputation from FAFO).

SOP for the negotiation playbook. But it sucks because it puts fans through the ringer as they watch two parties they are fans of turn negative towards each other, and naturally the conflict entrepreneurs try to stoke outrage for clicks and money.

The jury is still out on whether the Warriors are a joke team that had Steph for a while or whether they’ve truly transitioned to a serious organization. If they can’t just make a clear headed decision about Klay without worrying about optics that’s a terrible sign.

I remember watching other videos about what modern positions are losing its potency, and it being SG over the PF, makes sense that we can't tie up too much money into the starting 2 position that Klay wants. Klay has an agent, manager, and others that earn a piece of whatever they finalize on but this isn’t a move that you see when you’re way too far apart on numbers. He’ll get paid in the high 10s low 20s for at least 2 years. He’ll definitely play and contribute and have a legitimate chance to win with a few roster tweaks and luck. Where else would he get more than all of those things combined?
