2024-08-20 03:31:32 +0000 UTCThe Kawhi contract is maybe the worst in the league. Even if you give him an 82 game vacation, there's no guarantee he lasts through even one playoff series. The only time in his career he played with heart was in his make-or-break mercenary contract year, five years ago. "Boardman gets paid" is his motto. People focus too much on the "boardman" part of that quote. Money is his only motivation. And he's already getting paid 50m/year – whether he works or not – for 3 more seasons. Don't believe me? Well, he worked hard last season right up until he signed that deal. And then, started load managing again, bailed on the playoffs, backed out of the Olympics. So he's either really too hurt to play basketball regularly or he's too lazy. He may clock in during the 26-27 season when he has a chance to earn another big pay day. If you want to trade for Kawhi, wait until the 2027 trade deadline (and only if he's still a pending UFA).
