Also crazy that Rudy Fernandez only just retired for basketball after playing with Spain at this summer's Paris Olympics. As for Juan Carlos Navarro, I recall Steph being asked about JCN in an interview a few years ago and how similar his game was to Navarro's. I re-watched some of Navarro's highlights on YouTube from his time in Barcelona and the one year with Memphis and there's definitely a lot if similarities.

Both Wade and Bron were this super rare combo of athleticism and feel, usually one comes without the other. Ant is sneaky smart tho, I see him learning to play with much better feel as he ages

But everything Steph does has a sense of intention and efficiency (except those damn turnovers lmao). Like you said Kobe made a lot of ill-advised decisions but you can’t hold it against him because most of the time he’d come thru at the end

The last game of the Mark Jackson era, and really the last the Warriors would lose that early in the playoffs lol. It would be interesting to hear your thoughts on Jacksons schemes at the time and why we lost that game.

2024-08-23 21:52:17 +0000 UTCAwesome video. Really enjoy this throwback content. A lot of things stood out to me in this game: 1. The Euro players are so much more efficient in their movement. One I noticed is how decisively their players attack off the catch. American players tend to catch the ball and devolve into iso ball where they dribble in place for a few moments before getting into a move, which usually allows the help defense to reset and contain their attack. The Euros do the complete opposite. On the catch, they either shoot right away or immediately attack the basket. Essentially, they never stay idle; They're in constant motion for the entire offensive possession, which makes them extremely tough to defend 2. In terms of best post-games since Gasol, I'd Jokic is right there. His game can be a lot uglier, but I'd argue it is even more effective with his amazing touch and feel. 3. The Ant/Wade comparisons have always made more sense to me then the Ant/Jordan ones. Ant is probably the much better jump shooter from three. But I think Wade had a much better feel for the game and was overall more cerebral player. Perhaps Ant can get there one day. He is only 23. But man, if not for the injuries, I think we'd be talking about Wade as the second best shooting guard over Kobe. I truly believe he was that talented.

Also I think by now his physical peak was far behind him. He had degenerative knee issues at this point. I would point to 2002-2003 as maybe the guy you want.
