2023-10-12 09:04:55 +0000 UTCexactly my sentiments too... finally seeing someone who is excited about Garuba, i even wanted to draft him over Moody... he is like a bigger and younger Dray who is going to be learning from Dray without the distractions. he had a very solid first preseason game, hope he gets more minutes in the next one.. maybe we are keeping him as some sort of secret? yes if he can get his weight down to about 240-245 he'd probably be good.

Saw a video on YT of him hitting them from all over and they look a hell of a lot better than the free throws. Yes he's better than Dwight in some aspects. He's still a little green. We still got that big man coach that turned Looney into a rebounding god...he will help Garuba too.

I think he is why they passed on Dwight. Plus after hearing Dwight pupu the idea of the Warriors being seriously interested in him (before they asked for the workout) on that podcast I was only half in on them taking him anyway. Plus he's a bit of an a-hole with all of his off court drama. Hope Garuba is what we hope he can be, I can't wait for the new season. Did you see Steph running the desert dunes? Revenge season incoming!!!

Love his passing, definitely a pass first guy, also the picks, wow he nails that skill, you mentioned everything as usual. But being a switchable 5 like Loon is his spot, pick, pass, and defend.

He's been great on that side of the ball ever since, rockets played well with him on the court. Looked like the rockets were confused about who/how to prioritize certain players. They've legit drafted everyone almost exactly where they were mocked. So they may not be truly evaluating players or have a clear idea of the direction they want to go to. Very optimistic about Garuba. He's got enough working in his head for me to believe there's alot more room for growth. I feel like this will give some juice to Draymond.

Because thats what we are ultimately talking about right.. can he space the floor offensively enough to slide to the 3. Maybe with Dario and a better shooting Draymond it wont matter as much

2023-09-26 00:17:40 +0000 UTCGreat point on Kuminga. Everything the coaching staff wants Kuminga to do and seems like he doesn’t want to do, Garuba does naturally and at a high level. Think Usman can replicate some of that defensive impact that we got from Otto from the championship year and then some. And on offense if he can just finish well enough and stick an open 3 this might be the closest we’ll get to an Otto replacement. Also from this limited footage he doesn’t have the draymond syndrome of never wanting to finish at the rim and always looking to pass. He seems physical on both ends of the floor. But I think this has great potential to be one of those Bruce brown to the nuggets type steals of the off-season.

I was high on him in the draft specifically because he had the physical tools combined with the “want” defensively. I think in the right system and with the right role, hes demonstrated at least some attributes of being capable of being a winning player. If we wanted to just absolutely harass other teams, there are lineup combinations that he might be able to fit into that would be very difficult to counter, especially if he gets a scholarship to looniversity’s rebounding program lol He seems to me to be a low risk, high upside signing in the margins that we know championship teams tend to need to hit on, so I’m cautiously pretty optimistic? I think less of a problem since Steph and Klay can shoot balls well even when the ball is out of the pocket. But the warriors may train him on that end. Imagine if he had the corner three? I doubt it though haha
