2023-09-30 23:29:57 +0000 UTCYou think we finally see the big drop off in Bron's impact this year, or does he still have enough to have top-10 impact when healthy?
Stevie Ray
2023-09-30 23:01:45 +0000 UTCYou're forgetting Dame had been on the fence for a while now about his tenure in Portland. During the Chancy Billops hire, he used his camp in round about way test publicly about how he'd be perceived if he asked for a trade request and then backtracked. There's is a perception that franchises suffer when their All-NBA talent demands a trade. But in the long term, if played well, the asset acquired increase the likelihood of becoming a title team. It's this bullshit of, I sign an long term extension then I immediately not only ask for a trade but demand a single destination. This should've been addressed in the new CBA, trade demands should be legal but your ass gets shipped wherever its best for the franchises involved. If you're a veteran All-Star, you're going to a contender anyways, it just may be in Milwaukee rather than Miami. The idea that ownership owes Dame something for putting up great stats on decent regular seasons teams is maddening. He has been given an enormous overpay for the last 2 years in his upcoming extension. The 2019 sweep, should've been when they shipped him out. It is the least talked about series historically. That KD-less, bench-less team with just the core and a bunch of guys that would be out of the league wiped the floor with Dame and CJ. Ownerships owes Curry because he's a champion and a top 10 player all time. Damien who never made a Finals in his tenure isn't even a top 10 player in the last 20 years.

Luke Zhang
2023-09-30 22:51:34 +0000 UTCI have decent flexibility, but “use it or lose it” definitely applies lol.. I’ve noticed some of best athletes are super stiff that’s what kinda gives this crazy recoil.. again using Bron, it would be a mistake to try and push through where he is naturally at for the sake of “flexibility”
Athletic Alchemy
2023-09-30 22:45:08 +0000 UTCI think Šarić is a wild card. I mean the vet mins like this are supposed to be but. He could just be such a great fit in so many different 5-man lineups or he could just be super alright and get overplayed because of his perceived archetype value.
Stevie Ray
2023-09-30 22:39:08 +0000 UTCYea in a lot of Yoga circles they push through stiffness or resistance. It creates an abundance of flexibility fast, but the injuries aren't far behind the perceived gains. I'm the same way, if I'm trying something on the mat or at the gym and my body says nah, being injured sucks, no gain is worth that risk. It's just so mentally taxing dealing with an injury.
Stevie Ray
2023-09-30 22:36:13 +0000 UTCI tried to do incline walking at the gym the other day, 5 min in my left ankle said no sir!… but yeah they could stumble into some stuff, I keep forgetting about Dario too

2023-09-30 22:21:19 +0000 UTCBullock country, let's ride He'll be pursued by a bunch of teams tho. Could see Milwaukee going after him especially

2023-09-30 22:18:43 +0000 UTCI'm a bit concerned with what you brought up about the sustained stiffness possibility. I have a jacked up ankle and it's a constant issue, however, I don't have a tier 1 medical staff taking care of it. There's definitely some silver linings though, 1st the starting lineup of CP, Curry, Klay, Wings, Loon should be their closing lineup, regardless whose healthy so to see it start is a plus. 2nd a shorter season for Draymond is ideal as long as he optimizes his workouts with what he's capable of.
Stevie Ray
2023-09-30 22:18:02 +0000 UTCNah that’s a valid point.. but who should they have gotten at the deadline?
Athletic Alchemy
2023-09-30 22:16:32 +0000 UTCImagine if Steph signed an extension and then they trade Klay and Dray for young players and they do a full scale rebuild with 19 and 20 yr olds. Steph Poole Kuminga Moody Wiseman Bpod TJD... Now of course Steph has done far more for his franchise but they ALMOST did Steph like that too. That two timeline shit was about to go a completely different direction had they lost in 2022.

2023-09-30 22:15:31 +0000 UTCThis is my only pushback to you Unc... When Dame signed that deal.. the agreement was that they will build a contender around Dame. Last season they sit Dame early and basically tank and they have a bunch of attractive assets and picks. When Dame saw that they weren't going to leverage those picks to try and get veteran talent around him.. he felt slighted and asked out. From a league wide perspective.. I agree its cool to see owners take some power back. But with the way it was handled.. i think it might scare some of these young players away from signing these extensions with these middle of the pack mediocre organizations. I think if Dame knew they were gona do a full rebuild and waste the rest of his prime... he wouldve never signed that deal. Alot of people thought Portland was gona trade those picks and those young guys
Ballin Forever
2023-09-30 22:11:41 +0000 UTCYou are more knowledgeable about this than I. But one thing I’d say about Dray and the recovery, he’s no stiff… he seems pretty flexible and loose in the joints. As opposed to say Lebron who always takes longer with an ankle
Athletic Alchemy
2023-09-30 22:08:13 +0000 UTCIf Grant was available for a 1st and an expiring (which he very well could be) I think he may be wildly underrated of what he could be as the 3rd/4th option in a playoff series. Funny I've been fixated on the Jrue possibilities since the Dame trade and think I just talked myself out of it.

2023-09-30 22:06:12 +0000 UTCYeah good info Nick 🙏🏽… Alexander was really a straight bust, a work out warrior and I remember everyone getting enamored with his measurements. But Wes and Robinson those were 2 I thought would have had way better careers

2023-09-30 21:50:01 +0000 UTCThanks Alc. In regards to Gui, from what I understand, he's still under contract with his Brazilian club Minas (the team he was on at the time when the Dubs drafted him), but they're basically loaning him out to Santa Cruz, similar to what they do in club fùtbol. If the Dubs did want to sign him to that last 2-way slot, they would need to buyout his contract with Minas. I think he has one year left on that deal, but a buyout wasn't likely to happen and the Jerome signing proved it. He'll more than likely spend another season in Santa Cruz, which tbh is the right move. He has potential, but he's not ready to contribute and could use another season to develop. Hopefully it works out for him and we get to see him on the team in 2024. He did have a good FIBA tournament, though. Also fun fact: Joe Alexander actually played a little bit for Santa Cruz a decade ago.
Nick Elliston
2023-09-30 21:31:41 +0000 UTCHe played in the FIBA World Cup for Brazil, so he's healthy. The problem is, if we were to use fùtbol lingo, he's signed to his Brazilian club Minas, but is on loan to Santa Cruz. If they wanted to sign him to the last 2-way spot, they would have to buyout Santos' contract to do so. His contract ends after this season, so it's going to be another year at least.
Nick Elliston
2023-09-30 20:46:58 +0000 UTCGetting Reggie Bullock would be dope. He was very solid in Dallas and would provide some excellent depth. Really hope that can happen down the line. Sucks about Mitchell. He's hella talented and a great complement to CMC. Both Breida and Mostert were also super un-durable during their tenure with SF as well, I wonder if it's just a trend of bad luck or something with the scheme? IDK. Hope he comes back soon tho.

2023-09-30 20:37:04 +0000 UTCLove these pods With the picks Because of the protections on the 2024 pick from the Iggy trade to Memphis, now owned by Boston The Celtics would need to remove the protection in order to have 2 firsts 2026 and 2028 Not to say it's not possible, but since Boston is in the Jrue sweepstakes, it's unclear what it would take However they may be interested in getting CP3 on the cheap with the whole Brogdon situation (I can lay it out later its too much to type on my phone) But put Boston aside for a second Pretty sure CP3's expiring Kuminga 2027 unprotected And a pair of pick swaps Might trump all other offers, obviously depending on how they value Kuminga. However, many people feel the Jeremy Grant deal is a negative contract (I don't but many podcasters do) It's likely they could get Grant in January (when he's trade eligible) For just CP3 and the 2027 pick (maybe even protected) Question to you Alch How much more would you like Jrue over Grant? Obviously it's difficult to compare, they're very different players and even people. (Ownership would prefer the optionality of Jrues short contract, to Grant's long term deal, I assume. Though with the cap rising, it's hard to gage).

2023-09-30 20:10:17 +0000 UTCI know you should take the known quantity especially with grumblings of jku wanting to leave anyways but man it would hurt if he turned into the monster we expect him to be but we gotta see him 4 times a year in portland

2023-09-30 19:50:14 +0000 UTCdidn't santos mess up his collarbone in summer league? i figured that was the reason he didn't get that last two-way

2023-09-30 19:35:41 +0000 UTCI generally had a good view of Dame until he started running his mouth, especially about how he's better than the Chef... yeah, I guess we'll see Dame, I guess we'll see. If you get sonned yet again this season with Giannis at your back, no excuses, right?
