He is still thinking that his vets can turn the season around while he is destroying the team and not developing young players which could carry us in the near future.

However, maybe it’s a bid naive but we could play the young guns as much as possible this season and try to run it back next year. Especially Podz and Kuminga are looking good. That could work. It’s just so frustrating to have a coach who does not believe in his young players while the vets are struggling and he is still playing them. Warriors need to pick a direction for the foreseeable future this year. And I do not think that Joe Lacob will do nothing - no way he is paying that much tax while we are not even in the play in.

2024-01-15 17:26:43 +0000 UTCI don't think it's an overstatement to say that there were moments in this game where JK looked every bit the equal of Giannis and that was the case despite the disparity in how the two are officiated. Of course JK will never reach Giannis' level in terms of pure Shak-like power around the rim but JK is clearly the superior shooter. That 7-10 foot fall away is buttery smooth and he's become so much more patient and savvy around the basket. He's really made vast strides forward imo. But it wasn't just that JK looked like a budding star out there, it's also that, as Alch points out, strategically he was the better option against this Bucks lineup. Lopez seemed much more comfortable banging against Loon than trying to put a lid on JK's vertical rise. Whether Kerr's decision was based on providing Loon with some home-town spotlight or that he didn't recognize the advantages of playing JK, either way it is a head-scratcher (and that's being euphemistic). Still, all things considered, we do seem to be trending towards a more logical and successful balance in minutes distribution. The real test will be when Dray (and to a lesser extent GP2) return. Will the "youngsters" still get reasonable minutes or will Kerr rekindle his love affair with the "proven" vets? We'll soon find out. Go Warriors, Go Alch!

2024-01-15 03:50:47 +0000 UTCOur lack of shooting is a big reason why we havent been good. That Looney and Draymond frontcourt been killing us.. We lived by the 3 because we didnt have any spacing for our slashers to get to the rim.. that was exposed by the Lakers. Thats why Draymond came to this season with a focus on making 3s.... Lakers went into a zone... fronted steph and Klay.. and we were cooked. Having someone like Lauri who can not only catch and shoot... but also attack that closeout wouldve changed that entire series. Because we didnt have any offensive punch from our frontcourt.. and Wiggins being a shell.. it forced Steph and Klay to make take and make tough shots. 5-out basketball is the wave.. all the best teams are operating as such.

2024-01-15 02:59:54 +0000 UTCyeah there was a decent stretch mid game where Kuminga took a lot of attempts on offense and missed, while Bucks were able to score consistently and regain momentum, thats probably what explains the plus minues. While Loony didnt play much besides getting the start and ending minutes. Despite the plus minus though, we needed what Kuminga brings down the stretch, pressure in the driving lanes, drawing fouls, defense, athleticism etc. Like Alc been said, Kerr's desicion making has gone to levels of disgusting thats no longer understandable atp.

He’s too slow and reactive, like you can’t anticipate that Dario and looney won’t be able to keep up with Giannis? To rub salt in the wound before Kuminga was subbed off he was showing that clutch gene that we’ve seen time and time again going bucket for bucket when we needed it. He seems to live for these moments and I haven’t been a high level athlete ever lol but I was competitive and nothing is more frustrating than wanting it in the big moment and you don’t even get the chance. And then to sub him in after the game was already lost was the icing on the cake. Maybe we lose with Kuminga out there but I just can’t live with this decision making from Kerr. I hope we don’t trade him just bc it’ll hurt that much more if a young team like Indiana or Toronto gets him, can you imagine him getting the chance to spread his wings playing with Hali or with Nick Nurse coaching him 🤢 time to hang em up Steve he’s as washed as Tim Kawakami

I guess in the last two games his headband couldn't find a rhythm and had to get benched later in 2nd quarter. I am biased because I don't like the headband look on anyone. Seriously, I don't know if it's just me, but I find myself lately worrying about the non-JK mins. It's just that we are so woefully lacking in strength, length, athleticism, and, most importantly, aggressiveness. Give me the guy who has the fire in the belly. JK is always a threat to make something happen out there. However, Kerr will always resort to Andrew "Please, no contact" Wiggins, and Kevon "Feet of Concrete" Looney.

There's no reason why Steph and Kuminga can't develop a potent two-man game together. Steph can easily get himself 3-4 assists more again if he learned to add a bounce pass to his repertoire. Of course, this is all wishful thinking because Kerr has no idea how to evolve as a coach.

I don't know all the termology-there's so much I don't know. But-I do understand momentum and when a player has it going on and is helping the team. WHY oh WHY does Kerr not like Jonathan Kuminga and what he can do for the Warriors? It's not always about the plus-minus; it's about MOMENTUM and what's going on within the game at the time. It's driving me crazy just like everyone else in Dub Nation; I'm having nightmares that JK is traded for Todd Fuller or some 'gamer' who can pass, assist but can't jump and can't take games over when the time calls for it. I just don't understand and I'm going to be really sad to see JK go if and when that happens. I just don't get it.

Markannen immediately becomes our 3rd best shooter and you can slot him alongside Draymond easier. Because Kuminga isnt necessarily a shooter.. it will be hard to have him and Draymond or him and Looney etc. Lauri is a 40% from 3 guy at high volume... a really good athlete... rebounds.. can play some 5... a legit 7 ft.. averaging 25 and 8 on basically 50% ... and is only getting paid 17M. His versatility would be hard for me to pass up on as it relates to how he fits with our current roster.

It’s hard to imagine we are a lauri markannen away from being a true contender with how inconsistent the vets have looked and how bad our defense is. Going for Hail Mary’s rarely ever work. IMO we are better off with incremental improvement starting with the coaching staff and challenge for a couple more at the tail end of the Steph contract

JK was undoubtedly our best player on the floor by eye and by impact. I don't want that plus minus crap because it doesn't match my eye test. I swear Kerr looks at that on NBA.com during the game and pulls guys based on it. If this offensive system geared for Stephen Curry cannot be adjusted for a player that isn't my height the system has outlived its usefulness.

I wrote an article before the season about a 3/4/5 of JK/Dario/TJD 2nd unit and assumed that was the route they wanted to experiment with, without picking a true footer for the bench - but instead Saric has essentially replaced last year's JaMychal Green minutes. Can Dario play spot minutes at the 5? Absolutely, because he's a walking mismatch with his offensive versatility. Can Saric consistently achor an NBA defense? All the quick footed guards and wings start salivating when they see JaMychals or Darios with no rim protection try to man the paint alone.

Kuminga was cooking all night and we needed buckets + rim protection. As long as Kerr has the option to choose ole reliable over new and better - he will continue to choose ole reliable against all logic. Kerr maybe the most loyal coach of all time and it aint close. On a positive note.. Kuminga looks to be inching closer and closer to allstar caliber.. If he was a #2 option.. he would easily be 22-25ppg right now. And at this point.. Markannen is probably the only guy I would move him for. Kuminga for Siakam is a no-go for me right now. I overall liked how we looked last night... super encouraging going forward.

But hey, on a positive note at least most of the team since those blowouts have increased their trade value. Maybe im being a bit pessimistic, but I don't think we'll get anything decent from a mid-season trade. Too many teams think they're 'in it' and getting someone good enough will cost too much. Alternatively, get a few mid pieces will put us in the same position.

If we’re saying Klay has to admit he isn’t the guy he used to be, then we have to also admit Kerr isn’t the same coach he once was even 2 years ago
