Warriors vs Jazz | GM-53|

Looney and Dario don't even qualify as centers if we're being honest.

Neal X

I spent a part of my weekend reading a bunch of articles and analysis about Klay coming off the bench, Pods being this breakout star, future all-star etc. We were here last season and the season prior...with Jordan Poole. Poole played better when he was in the starting line up. The numbers were there to prove it. Both Poole and Pods can break the paint, shoot, pass, etc. I'm not comparing Pods to Poole. Curry makes players better around him. I'm willing to bet if Quinones or a healthy CP3 were in the starting lineup, the media would be all over it. I'm personally growing tired of hearing about point guards or hybrid point guards on this team when we need our wings (looking at you Wiggins) to be more aggressive and committing to a center that's more dimensional than Dario or Looney.

decomplexify5000

Most frustrating thing about Klay is that he's washed because of his MENTALITY more than anything. Alch's pointed out how if he just worked on changing his shot mechanics, and also if he stopped getting in his feelings and stayed locked in, he could still be a great player... but it's been over half the season and he's barely showed it. Even more concerning that a highly paid coaching staff can't help him with the mechanics issue. I said this before and I'll say it again, sports psychologists are also highly paid for a REASON. So if you refuse to help yourself, why should other people keep putting up with you?

Neal X

OK I guess I thought the joke went deeper than just making fun of his appearance.

Neal X

yeah man. he should collab with Jason Timpf. Both of yall have S tier ball knowledge

ChizzyTheKid

I agree with this floor/ceiling outlook

Ruben Valce

Look up who Travis Scott is

Ruben Valce

I didn't get it...

Neal X

Hey Unc what do see Podz potential being. I think his floor would be a 6man and his ceiling no higher than an all star. Interested to get your feed back on this

Malikhai Dixon

Travis Snott, im crying

Ruben Valce

Need to try and bring Mike brown back during the offseason Kerr can go sail boats with klay and wonder off to idgaf where just far away from the warriors😭

Emmanuel L

Yes but it’s not random that we lost those games. It’s kerrs bad choices.

B Master

cuz they're fucking old and play a lot of minutes lol.. Maybe it is part of what Alc says, but these guys just get outworked at the end in many games. Ray Charles can see some of the things Kerr hasn't been able to in the last 2 seasons.

Julian

TJD getting fewer minutes than Dario or Looney is the clearest sign I can point to that tells us Kerr doesn't get it. There are other signs, but this is by far the clearest.

Neal X

No it's not just you. They are both far too slow and small (for the 5 position) to play in today's league. Loon's only attribute is his rebounding, Dario's is his 3 ball. That's it. Harsh, but it's the truth. Loon's been incredible for us especially considering he basically came out of obscurity, but his time in the sun is over.

Neal X

True. Kerr’s rotation is bogus. Had not for Kerr, we would have a young all star by now.

Tai Jan Huang

Does Podz go top 5 in a hypothetical redraft? Absolute home run pick at 19, great value at 57 as well with TJD. Amazing draft for us.

Vulacior

decision-making kums with playing time, and he definely is not a worse decision-maker than Klay

Nathan Harbison

Nothing but facts right here. TJD too!

Nathan Harbison

Is it just me or is it that every time Dario or Looney is on the court we're getting cooked? I've been a Looney supporter forever, but I'm also out on him. Those two run pick and roll defense like a parked car. I feel like Looney had more success when we used to just switch and leave him on an island against some guards and wings, he used to do an amazing job in those 1v1s.

Pelvis

Yup, I'd like to see the coach actually tell the team to stop forcing 3s late in games, also no reason not to play thru kuminga more, not just at the end but all game. Why are we falling back into the kuminga is just a role player type of offense, if he isn't scoring himself he actually been making great passes. I don't trust kerr....he showed 2 years worth of dislike for jk, if it was up to him he wouldn't be on the team. Kerr has to go since he doesn't understand somthing simple as kuminga and curry actions and that kuminga is his best inside scoring threat. Going even smaller was crazy

k fish

ye.. Steph was absolutely wrecked. Boy was huffing and puffing going up and down the court. Oh and TJD, i don't remember the last time I saw a player so one hand dominant. Shit is insane. Imagine what he would be once the other hand comes around

AK

Travis Snot ☠️☠️

Alex J

Alch - please collaborate somehow with hoops tonight/Jason Timpf. Groundswell is growing - check the comments here https://youtu.be/1YqFGEyRx0I?si=n5IHHj7YIOp_AjdF

Umang Modi

You know jk is one of the best finisher through contact in the league. He can’t get much better than what he is now .

mr.bean

Charmin... Reeves... 😂😂😂

Daniel Fries

I’m sensing this is exactly where leverage toward change is being created, as without buy in from especially Steph and Dray, how much can it mean? I’m guessing Kerr/staff are nudging Steph/team away from hero/iso ball in crunch time by (finally) benching Klay, earlier benching Wiggs, benching JK last night… Yo, WE win a lot more often if we play all 48 the right way, not 40 or 44. Higher level of trust needs to be reached for any chance of meaningful success!

Chip Tingle

Nope

Chip Tingle

Maybe should have been subbed in the last 3 minutes. I love Klay but Podz is just more dynamic😉

Mark Tan

Kerr has never rated Kuminga. See’s him as a large role player instead of a 2nd or 3rd option. We’re seeing fewer plays for JK and fewer mins and I think it’s only a few games before Klay replaces him in the starting lineup.

Hg80

👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

FromTheLandOfHella

I just wonder how many of JK's decisions during a game are based on which choices he thinks are least likely to result in punishment and loss of playing time. Podz is the only one not obsessing over it. It's terrible. What kind of motivation is that? The whole game seems to be filled with bone-headed plays and blame afterwards. It's depressing. I feel bad for the players. We need a new coach.

Peter Beckler

lol the two Utah female fans in the front row enamored with Curry at the beginning of the clip

Andy Chen

How do u feel about a line up of TJD Dray JK Podz & Steph?

Rich

Why do you feel Looney is always playing with Klay, when Klay + TJD looks like Magic and Kareem? The Looney hand-offs are not screening anybody anymore and leaves Klay in a trash spot.

bob star

You're totally right about the over-yielding. This whole season has been about Kerr and the core being bullied into adapting. And though it's awesome that they've enabled the young guys as of late, it doesn't matter unless they maintain that strategy in tense situations. But like everything, just feels like it's going to take time. We're at the all-star break and we FINALLY can have the conversation about Klay being a bench player. I can't stand Kerr sometimes, but I also empathize with the human puzzle he's in charge of, because the people element is not a quick thing to manage. The only question is if there's going to be enough time to still have a chance at the big trophy. Also, Keyonte George is fire

yan't get right

Alch i think Kerr is trying to play too many people. Why is Jk and Klay not with the second unit? A formula that has work over what a 20-game sample size. Dario and Looney are not one of those players that need guaranteed minutes. Also it feels like kerr rolling back all the work he did with JK over the last few games. Why is jk being taken out start to the 2nd and 3rd

mr.bean

I been viewing your vids for bout a year or so now and I just wanted to shout you out for making me a fan, I only like watching creators who views the game the same as me, I love watching your vids cause you always get into the same talking points I find myself saying while watching the game 😂 it’s laughable sometimes. I’m not a true warriors fan really, I’m just a Steph fan since day1 but I grew to love the dynasty. But I gotta take lmk what you think. I think all lineups either need to have JK, Wiggs, or Dray on the floor at all times and Kerr needs to give TDJ and Moody some mins. We need size but he’s to structured on the skillful guards idk what got into his coaching the past couple years!? In the clutch the exact issue is too many sets are ran for Steph and Klay and that wonder why TOs keep happening the whole vibe in the clutch is just force feed Steph and Klay and expect them to make shots, we need our wings in attack mode so they don’t get cold out the offense and start to turn the ball over trying to look for the “splash bros” too much I love Steph but he needs to stop being selfish sometimes and get the easier bucket. Keep doing your thing bro👍🏾

Teejay Montas

Can't say I am not worried about what happens if the Dubs face a team in the playoffs with a competent big. Pretty irritating seeing Gafford go to the Mavs with Lively when he would've been perfect here. There's a couple bigs that are FAs in the offseason that may be an option. Claxton, Hartenstein, and maybe Valančiūnas.

Powers

John Collins w the JR Smith impersonation ftw!

Mikey H

It’s wild to have such little confidence in Kerr and these guys down the stretch with their resume.. but at this point 🤷🏽‍♂️

Athletic Alchemy

I agree 1 bad pass from JK gets crucified, while the vets trick stuff off all the time

Athletic Alchemy

There is definitely truth to that. Thanks for the break down.

Christian Hollaway

You are right ego is a necessity no doubt. Keeping a healthy one I think can be difficult in a situation like this with so many guys deserving of opportunity

Athletic Alchemy

For having the oldest and most tenured core in the league, and Kerr's obsession with "vets", it makes absolutely NO sense how stupid this team is in crunch time. Yes that pass from Kuminga was awful but like. How many times did Curry just turn it over cuz he wasnt bothered enough to be even PAYING ATTENTION to the game?? The amount of stupid shit they do on a nightly basis is more than just concerning. It continues to reiterate and reaffirm all of my beliefs about this team. I dont care how many mini 5 game winning streaks they go on. I dont care how "the vibes" feel. I dont care how on balance Klay's shot looks (who scored zero in the 4th quarter btw). This team is exactly what their record says. They are severely, desperately, and wholeheartedly MID to their core. The most .500 team you'll ever see. They play up to their competition just as much as they play down to it. Kerr refuses to do anything consistently and his word is worth about as much as my nutsack. "The general rule is to stick to what works"?????? but yeah fuck TJD for playing well cuz Dario and Looney are just so much better right? I told yall its just easier to give up on this season than to continue being bait and switch. Every 5 games, its "OH LOOK THEYRE BACK, HERE THEY COME!" only for all of us to be immediately reminded that this team is the only team capable of losing in every fashion but the scoreboard.

Jansen E

Spot on about how the offense changes in the last five minutes. The ball movement slows down, the off-ball player movement slows down, and we struggle!

Nolan Williams

We got too many guys that need min.. got fit GP in too

Athletic Alchemy

Good call on the min.. I have just come to expect it unfortunately

Athletic Alchemy

This is the last Warriors game I'm watching this season. The MFers are infuriating bro...

Derrick Maples

TJD deserves more minutes. Loon is a target on defense and he offers no offensive/lob threat.

k. marcelous

not a great job managing Steph's minutes by Kerr with 35 minutes two games in a row, the guy was spent when we needed him most down the stretch. And we continue to allow warm up threes to every team, the Jazz didn't shoot 45% from deep just by being hot, we facilitated it with our poor closeouts. Meanwhile we got two long armed energetic guys in Moody and Gui sitting all night. Kerr needs to realize our poor defense is largely on him. Good call Alc on Podz potentially being a long term starter *already*.

Johnny

random dude in the crowd catching strays 😂

JC76

Kuminga needs to be better at making decisions, he makes bad decisions sometimes

Diego

Kuminga getting iced in the first half was kinda nuts. He can’t play with TJD?

Jrod

Pretty good break down but you sure throw the ego term around alot. If they second guess their play as much as fans want them to they would never shoot the ball. How many games has this team played down the stretch. I'm sure they were running on empty. Every player in the NBA has an ego. Winning the game by 1 or 20 when they played so many games in a short time frame is all that matters right now. The simple truth of the matter is with 91 threes being shot in this game no lead was going to be safe.

Christian Hollaway

I did a lot of rambling in this one, but that is part of what I was trying to get at. It almost as if now he is worried about the vets catching feelings

Athletic Alchemy

I’d be surprised if people don’t pick up the phone for Sexton this offseason… honestly I’d be willing to give up moody and a late 1st rounder… he’s actually pretty efficient and averages 20 for his career. Love how hard he plays

Offtopic K

Podz at 4:25 seeing the rotation and gesturing for TJD to move before TJD sees it. Love this kid.

Tom L

I thought subbing Pods for Kuminga in the 4th was a bad coaching decision. If you're a guard not named Gary Payton, you have no business playing man against a 6'10"+ opponent. Saw it with Quinones and Pods throughout the game. Can Kerr just transfer minutes to TJD when we play opponents who have 2+ 6'10" or bigger dudes already? Dario and Looney are not getting it done.

decomplexify5000

Kerr has to find a way to keep Kuminga at minimum 13-15 shots a game… I get Klay went off but we all know it isn’t sustainable…

Offtopic K

This win masks the fact that the warriors are super shaky down the stretch. Marcus Thompson of the athletic keeps saying they can’t close bc the closing lineups haven’t gotten any in-game flow. Klay didn’t start - but he closed - without JK. The problem of picking closing lineups based on the matchup is that you don’t have tried and true moves or strategies. Dubs are constantly making things up late in game. And the Steph Dray PnR isn’t always getting them good looks. They need backup actions. They just got super lucky in this one but they almost lost it like three times on the last possession. It’s just an average team now. Flashes of old glory.

Gary

JK should be getting more shots up than Klay, he is passing a bit too much just look at the shot attempts

Diego

you could tell early that these guys didnt have their legs and thats why it was even more impressive that Klay looked so on balance and fresh. Steph gonna look awesome after the all star break with some pop

Matt Hanna

Even though this blown lead felt more like running on E on a back to back in elevation, there was still that “here we go again” feeling lol. I can’t even be that happy bc you just can’t give up that look on the last shot. EITHER foul or contest how tf do you give a wide open 3 it’s literally the only thing you can’t do. Hoping that this week off gives the vets the legs and mental break to lock in for the home stretch. Liked Klay’s postgame comments and where his head is at.

Luke Zhang

I think they blew a 15 or more lead six or eight times though. That’s 6 unnecessary losses.

Anthony Tsai

one game above 500... we move!

Anthony Gray

A bigger more athletic Jaylin Williams would be the perfect archetype for Kuminga

Luke Zhang

This team just isn't as fun to watch. Kerr and his favorites. Klay's selfishness. The treatment of Kuminga and Moody is disgusting. I'm hanging by a thread.

Goku44

Does anybody know the stat on how many 1-5 pt losses we’ve had this season? I wonder what the record would be if we won those. Especially the one point games. Would our whole view of the team and this season be completely different? Cuz it feels like there’s been a ton of those lol

Connor H

@alchemy Yep I'm patient with his development, he'll get there eventually, but in order for him to be that consistent 2nd option-- this off season he'll have to tighten his handle and either learn how to finish through/over shot blocking bigs or shoot more pullup midranges sort of like the Williams kid in OKC.

Old Runner

I agree with what JK is doing to 'play good basketball'-I worry more about narrative around when he's not putting up 'the numbers' we come to expect. That's when you wonder-is he a Steve Kerr player just to stay within the flow of the game? Does that help him stay on the floor? How come the vets can make catastrophic mistakes and stay on the floor-yet he gets yanked? Maybe it's because he's so young he'd still be in college as a junior had he gone. He and Podz are some of the big reasons why this season has meaning for me; I don't think they're going to go very far in the postseason.

Paul Hanson

not worried about JK, he's rebounding and staying patient with in the offense

Athletic Alchemy

This is all part of the development of a star, the crazy ups and downs, wild turnovers, and at times sketchy shot selection. I'm a believer in Kuminga because I know he has all time potential.
