Absolutely Draymond needs to be held accountable -- and we'll probably still be waiting for that by the time he retires lol. Silver lining, maybe he picked up a few tricks on Mobley's tendencies so he'll do better against him next time. Draymond is one of the best in the business at learning his man.

Dray was a complete joke this game; every play he was involved in was a disaster on both ends. To be a positive in any game, he has to give high effort. When he doesn't, you'd be better off playing literally anyone. Against the Cavs he looked like someone who's never played ball before. He's making fundamental mistakes - losing sight of his man, giving up free runners.
We would have lost either way - it was just one of those games. But when a guy is checked out, he needs to check out of the game. It was clear within 2 minutes.

Isn't it crazy that Bickerstaff had Jerome essentially as a bench warmer last season and as soon as Atkinson comes in, he immediately gives him playing time because of their time together in GS.
My conspiracy theory take is Vegas must've lost A LOT of money with GS winning in Boston so Kerr got a call from the league and was like "You guys need to make up for the money that was lost in Boston". It would be interesting to see the number of bets that were placed in favor of the the Warriors on Friday vs Wednesday night in Boston.

Would’ve been happy with one win against the big three. Just never bought the contender stuff with us. Getting a top 5 seed is a success in my book and we will look better against weaker competition. Really intrigued about the way this team responds against okc

But did we really try to attack the paint with authority?
Dale Happy Knowles
2024-11-10 12:57:21 +0000 UTC
Because we don't give their best players an opposition on D or O.
Take the play just over midway in the 2nd Qtr when Steph had the ball and everyone was on the perimeter, JK came over to set a pick. The 2 defenders have to follow Steph for just a second but with JK speed he is gone to the basket for an easy two hand dunk.
If any of the shot blockers rotated, JK/Wiggs/Moody could gorilla them or if the defenders have the advantage, make a pass for an open 3pt.
Basketball is simple!
We make it hard when Kerr tries to force the issue with all these college run around the arc hand offs and screens. Sure they have their significant place but when we see teams over emphasizing perimeter play, attact the basket with reckless abandon.
1. Gorilla dunk
2. Draw the foul
3. Kick out for 3pts.
But no, he too often stay on the perimeter telling JK/Moody to shoot more.
Madness!
JK/Moody/Wiggs should be in attack mode first, always on the move to initiate the play. Let Steph feed off of the chaos for easy 3s.
A rested more efficient Steph is Chip contender Worriers!
This game showed what forced tired legs steph does. Atkins knows after a big game Steph eases off a bit so he attached. The result with a bum knee Dray, took GSW nerve as everyone on the team feeds off of the confidence Steph as the only superstar, who can get his, whenever he wants to. When he does not, players loose hope when under attack.
Release JK, Wiggs and Moody.
Rotate Melton behind Buddy, Podski and Moody off the bench.
OKC starting line up should have been Steph, Wiggs, JK, Dray & TJD with Wiggs and JK relentlessly attacking.
If Dray struggle with mobility, insert Moody and slide Wiggs and JK up.

We don't need to tank it.
They may just be better than us.
They have shooting, defense, depth but unlike us they have a stretch big man and dominant 7 footer to guard the paint.
They are elite.

Looney is a defensive big.
John Pettus
2024-11-10 08:00:21 +0000 UTC
What does that even mean? You think he didn't play smaller lineups and try to run and shoot? It only works if your shots go in.
Also, when you can't threaten the drive bc of shot blockers the POA defenders can be a lot more aggressive.
John Pettus
2024-11-10 07:59:43 +0000 UTC
He's a small body with no NBA level defensive instincts. Most bigs take 3-4 years to develop, so there's no reason to expect help from any rookie bigs in Steph's timeline.

Consider
1. To many missed open shots. GSW looked tired, no legs in 1st half.
2. GSW play too nice against rough teams. Gentlemenly and force this high volume 3s mentality at the expense of easier shoots at the rim. Loons, Dray, Slow Mo those need to stop passing on midrange and rim opportunities when D focusing on perimeter.
3. Too many extra passes at the rim. Shoot or dunk the Ball. Put the bigs on D to the test. - Wiggs, Kuminga, Moody GP2 and Walters who play above the rim need to constantly and aggressively drive to punch it against strong defensive bigs. Get them in foul trouble. Too soft play.
Trayce in particularly need tuffen up and start finishing strong and garillering some bigs as we can't leave twin towers to settle in the seat ready to perch when they want to.
4. Why Buddy had zero points, and he and Steph took just 6 shoots in the first half with Buddy none in 2nd quarter. These are the teams top scorers - Madness!
5. Against bigs we need Wiggs and Kuminga to be in full attack mode. A plus - I saw a level of downhill attack the rim Moody that takes him off my potential trade list. Moody should start at 2. Just what GP2 does well in pick and roll Moody can do
6. No Waters in the rotation but an extended Melton who obviously was rusty. Did he and Brandon play more than Kerr would tolerate of JK and Moody mistakes because Klay and OKC is next? - Hmmm!
The biggest thing is Kerr still struggles to make in game adjustments and the starting 2G needs to be restricted to Moody and Wiggs until the all star game.

I think it’s all about matchups for us.. Teams like Boston and OKc are ok for us because it’s really a shooting contest. Teams like Knicks and Cavs are terrible fir us.. we still have to make some moves but I wouldn’t say this “exposed” the warriors

He's far better suited to go against 2nd unit talent and size. We've seen Tracey succeed in this role. But Big Loon shouldn't start either, they need to save Kevon's legs for 2nd half basketball - because he might be the best big we have now as a lone 5 man closing.
The start center is the piece we're missing - he doesn't have to switchable enough to close, but he needs to be big enough and active enough on both ends to drain the starting All-Star bigs' tanks early in games.

This game is an early litmus test. Still, after all these years I dont understand why Kerr doesnt at least have some defensive bigs on the bench at least (dont want to hear they are rare etc, have seen other teams pick up bigs for a song). This is going to be the warriors Krytonite, lack of a few good bigs.
There are some teams that are just going to be better than us this year. Good to know that early in the season. Make plans to get a life, find a hobby, stock up the wine cellar.

I knew it was going to be an ugly game once I saw how Steph and Dray were passing the ball and standing in place on defense. The play at 3:53 bailed the Cavs out due to Steph just standing there.
And after that 30 footer from Ty, I knew it was over. Cavs ended the half shooting 64% from 3 while the Dubs couldn’t make anything.
Also, JK should’ve been on the floor a lot more. He was the only one putting up a fight and wasn’t playing bad at all.
I would’ve liked to see Moody in for a lot more of the game considering how Steph and Dray were playing. Also, I think Looney should be playing more than TJD against taller players.

Wiggins is not an A-level shooter, we need to put Buddy or Waters or Melton next to Chef and Wiggins to make the lineup works. I really think Waters maybe the one, as he rebounds very well. Buddy is better to come off bench.

Early in the season there are some games that Kerr uses to size up the opponent for future battles. Idk. That's how I see it.
It's funny that till today Warriors fans still don't understand Ty's purpose on the floor when he was on the team.

I hate to say it but right now JK just isn't blending in very well. His 1v1 defense almost always has him trailing his man into our 5. He just can't stay in front of anybody right now. Meaning he won't get enough light going forward from Kerr.

Remember the “whoop that trick” game in Memphis during the ‘22 playoffs? Mike Brown was coaching cause Kerr couldn’t make it (back issues?). Kerr reportedly gave Brown specific instructions: “if it starts to get away, don’t chase it”. Give up a battle to win the war. This road trip (& Tuesday) really matters to them. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kerr was taking the same approach as he would in a playoff series.

If you look back at the transition turnovers involving buddy, he's got a wide open lane to the basket but still wants to drift to the corner/wing three and these turnovers are because the passer is leading him to the rim while he's drifting out..

Kerr has to realize when the vets ain't got it, be it fatigue or bad play and get to the youngsters quicker. What's the point of the depth of you don't use it even u need it. Dray has had a couple stinkers this year so far, and in past you had to hope he played himself out of it, but with Anderson you don't have to do that. Their older, sometimes they jus not gonna get up....use the youth Kerr!

One of those losses where you pack it up early, say "Damn they whooped our ass", and keep it pushing. Still 7-2, Cavs are a great great team, shot 75% from 3 in the first half, sometimes you get got. Time to bounce back in OKC.
