According to the NBA’s stats website, no Warrior takes more shots per game in the space between 8 and16 feet away from the hoop than Kuminga — who is making just 30.8% of the 2.5 shots he’s taking there per game.

What a cop out from Kerr. We lost 9 of 11 games mostly because of Kerrs bad rotations and our two best players not closing games. Then we get a win where the young guys played well and what does Kerr do, he basically comes out and blames them especially JK for the bad run. What a joke. There have been games this season that We won because of JK predominantly.

Thanks for going shot by shot with JK after that postgame rhetoric from Steve. I didn’t notice it in-game either, and support JK getting his middie and FT% game together like no one else can on this roster.
Kerr’s only coming up on 60 by the way. Did you catch him talking surfing the other day before actual questions started? Dude’s taking good care.
Deep roster win - Wiggs D, Steph O/close out, TJD/Loon combine for 17 boards, Podz stat stuffer hustle, Dennis adding a missing piece that makes everyone better.
Consistency of energy/effort?! Especially D/boards?!

I'd take it one step further - it's not just JK that doesn't fit with Dray. More than half the roster doesn't work with Dray because you can't play him with non-spacers AND you can't play him with drivers because his guy is zoned up in the paint. Lately you can't even play him with Steph because Steph is not beating traps with his bum leg.
Draymond still has the occasional night where he's a game-changing defender but it's not worth having a flat tire on offense all the time.
I think everyone realizes this, even Steve, but he's like an addict. The worse the Dray problem gets, the more defensive Steve gets. The first step is admitting you have a problem.

I don’t think that’s what the issue was. Listen to Alch’s YouTube breakdown of this game and he’ll get into what I’m talking about and I agree with him. JK did a lot of things right in the game, but it seems like there’s almost no room for even a couple of mistakes.

Can't have it both ways though. If it's not a "Kerr vs. kuminga" thing then its definitely a "Steph vs The Youth" thing that Kerr just becomes the spokesperson for. There's plenty of coaches who would allow a player like JK a longer leash and if Kerr is not that coach, then it's either "Steph Curry's inability to adapt and Kerr enabling it", or we're back at it being Steve's personal thing against Kuminga. Either way, the org is too focused on protecting the past. Just pick your sticking point, it's still the same big issue

Wolves GM lineup made no sense at all. The biggest problem for this team is Kerr doesn't know who and how to utilize them. Looney should be backup 5 period. TJD with Steph makes all the sense. He puts pressure on the rim, which Looney doesn't. It helps with the O.

That's fair about Steph and Dray. They all have cost us games, including kuminga. And kuminga and steph/dray are not the same and shouldnt be treated as such. Regardless, I just don't like kuminga's game. I said I may be the only one that feels this way but I don't see him being the future of the warriors. Imo he doesn't fit and it would be better for everyone including kuminga if he were traded. If it's playing time he needs, then he needs to go to a team that is trying to tank to get the playing time. People saying it's about playing time aren't really paying attention. Even though he wasn't starting he was playing the 4th most mins. There are teams where he can go and play all the mins he wants and maybe we can get a player that is ready now. That has been the warriors problem for the last couple of seasons. Now vs later. They need to choose. if it's later then trade steph and dray.

I think the problem for the FO is that it’s not about fitting JK with “the roster”. It’s about fitting him with Draymond. And it’s hard to trade away a promising 22 year old because he doesn’t fit with your 34 year old with a bad back. Like it or not, when JK has been given the car keys, he’s won ball games more often than not. The FO watches what he did to the Rockets defense and has to wonder…
If it was between JK and 22-year-old Draymond, Lacob would personally drive JK all the way back to the Congo if he had to. But it’s not.

We're all just speculating at this point, we won't know what goes on behind closed doors, but if I had to guess, I think Kerr may not like Kuminga's attitude and/or work ethic, and this is just based on Alch's comments from back when he saw JK's warmup routine being very half-assed. That's not a big sample size, sure, but it does say something about him. Kerr (like any coach) likes guys who put in the work and demonstrate that professionalism.

There I have to disagree, CP3 was a huge boost to the young guys and it's good to have another vocal leader on the team who isn't Draymond. CP3 was just small and old on the court, so he was still not a net positive in the end, but we knew that was probably going to be the case going in, it was the just the best of the bad situation called Jordan Poole. Water under the bridge at this point.

Is it really controversial to say “at least look for another shot before taking arguably the worst shot in basketball (contested midrange pullup) after the first pass”?
Everyone is making this a kerr vs jk thing as if any other coach wouldn’t be annoyed with 90% of their roster taking an early contested mid range? There’s very few guys in the league that would take that shot and their coach is perfectly cool with it.
At this point, it feels like we’re looking for any look, comment, or vibe to confirm this kerr vs kuminga issue.

JK needs spacing to attack the rim. But there are too many key players on the team (Dray, Loon, GP2) who provide no spacing at all. That’s the issue. When you have him in lineups with spacing - like against the Rockets - he looks unstoppable. When the middle is clogged up, he looks a lot less impressive.
Yet mouth breathers on Twitter just evaluate him with no context whatsoever. “He’s inconsistent!”

I might be the only one that feels this way but I just don't like kuminga's game. I'm trying to like it. I'm trying to see what everyone else sees but I don't. He should have went to college for a couple of years. He's one of those players that you can use in ab argument about why players need at least 2yrs of college before coming into the league. Your not guaranteed to get a lot of time on the court to figure it out especially if your on a team that is expected to contend every year. The it's no time for him to make mistakes if those mistakes cost a game because every game counts on the west. I think we should trade him and get someone that can be more helpful now. He's not worth a max. They are keeping him for what he may become but there is no guarantee. Your argument is that he doesn't know what to do but mine is he should just play his game but I don't think he knows what his game is. And that's a big issue for me. He needs to find out what HIS game is.

Idk man. The more we try to figure out the conundrum of how Kuminga fits within this roster, the more I feel they are justified in finally moving on from him. For me, he can be an empty calorie stat guy somewhere else, blossom and I wouldn’t see it as a loss because more often than not, his play style doesn’t necessarily translate into winning basketball.

Loving Schroder’s energy, he’s similar to Draymond but can actually break a defense and get a bucket which prob takes so much mental stress off the young guys. The first thing to go as a superstar gets older is consistency. Fewer scoring outbursts and more lows. That’s been Steph’s season so far. I feel like people point to the Olympics as prove that he still has it, while conveniently forgetting that he was pretty bad until the last 3 games. I hear the argument about roster quality but I feel like LeBron, cp3 and Steph up until now have skewed our expectations for how good they can be at 37. At the very least I’m not sure that there is any trade out there that can get us over the hump. But who knows how he looks 3 weeks from now. Wouldn’t be happier to be wrong.

Minny’s defense is kinda terrible. If you watch, almost like the first 6 or 7 shots that Steph got were WIDE open because the bigs sat in a drop and left NAW and McDaniels out to dry. I don’t understand how that’s the scheme against any shooter, much less Steph Curry, if you give him clean look after clean look, of course he’s putting 30 on you

Kerr’s comments definitely sounds like someone who moves goalposts or expectations for someone they don’t like. He’s always talking about JK’s shot selection (which like you said Alch, wasn’t egregious) and doesn’t even show any excitement or joy when he scores, but only when he makes the extra pass. Honestly I thought we was over this last year but it seems Kerr just doesn’t like Kuminga as a basketball player and it feels like even as a person sometimes

Great points about the messaging to JK. I thought he played well within the framework of being a team player. In the press conference Steve said his young players have to play within the Steph rules paradigm-don’t take contested mid range jumpers with 14 seconds on the shot clock-pass it around like that Dennis pass to Steph for the 3 possession at the end. That’s not a good way to develop any type of options if that’s the only way to play. I understand what he’s trying to say but it’s all tied to Steph or nothing. I guess that’s why he signed a two year extension.
