Warriors vs Kings Hybrid GM-35

Comments

I think he’s said it a couple times this season already— they gotta force feed Wiggins a little more, play through kuminga more attacking downhill, and green light the others to take shots when they look good (moody, Lindy). And lastly, Steph slowly phasing into more of a distributor rather than focusing largely on scoring off these pick n rolls with draymond

Adrian Lee

"I never looked at the consequences of missing a big shot... when you think about the consequences you always think of a negative result." ~ Michael Jordan Kerr is said to be this master positive mind cultivator. So how is he producing all this negative thoughts. Players have to give up 3 feet 95% shots for pass to a 40% at best shot. Madness!

Dale Happy Knowles

Not just Buddy. They all are trying to hit homeruns when we need singles. But what makes this worse is they are not allowed to be themselves. They are force to think about failing before succeeding. Tommy Lasorda told us, "Pressure is a word that is misused in our vocabulary. When you start thinking of pressure, it's because you've started to think of failure." To much pressure and that's on the head coach.

Dale Happy Knowles

Great post! Everything I have been saying and still agree with.

Irritated Inanimate

I agree with most of what you said. Trayce is too young to be too tired. Somebody needs to pick a fight with him or tell him someone’s after his job, I don’t understand why he’s acting like playing like this is going to cut it. What happened to the fire? What happened to the kid that decided to take it personally the last two weeks? I do think Pat should play more, Steph and Dray need to ride the energy of the younger players to keep them engaged. I think Kerr, Steph, or Draymond telling any younger player to calm down or be patient is crushing their motivation. Just because you guys already have your four rings and you’re old and tired doesn’t mean that being patient and calming down is what got you those rings, it means you’re old and you can’t keep up. That’s not the younger player’s problem, that’s yours.

Irritated Inanimate

Concur. I can’t believe he didn’t even try to use Looney. It’s basic, obvious stuff like this when I talk about adjustments. You can’t say Buddy isn’t trying his best, even if his defense is not great, so if Kerr can’t figure out some plays for him, then what are we doing here?

Irritated Inanimate

You say "Steph and Dray can't be the basis of the team and they have to adapt too". That's all well and good, but adapt to what exactly? Some suggestions would be nice. I'm curious to see what you think in terms of how we should play with the talent on this roster

Said Sharif

Or to Unleash the scorers presently on the team.

Dale Happy Knowles

Buddy don't need reps in G. He and many of the other players need to be allowed to be themselves. Buddy is not Klay and never will be. Buddy is Buddy a hardness, energetic full out shooting assassin. A Vinny Johnson type. Coaches fail with Buddy because they missuse his talents and capacity to do more than he is equipped. Kerr is making these players think too much instead of just hooping. I bet if Kerr takes leave for 5 games Dubs as is would go 5-0 no mater who they play. The skills and talent is there. We don't have a Jonas Valančiūnas or Nikola Vučević but we have emence fire power to out shout opponents. We just needs to use the players appropriately.

Dale Happy Knowles

Why do we expect players to be machines and particularly 2nd year players. Steph has recently been up and down but we don't dwell on that. Dray has always been up and down but we praise that. We can get rid of all of the players but smSteph and Dray and it will not fix the challenges. Both Steph and Dray are aging and can't do all that they could have done before but Kerr is not making any adjustments. He is fixated on the thought that they both and the league have the big separation of skill and talent as 5 years ago. Madness! I don't believe Kerr needs to go but he needs to make adjustments for change. Everyone else who is succeeding does it. Kerr did it when he joined the team.

Dale Happy Knowles

Watching the heat game right now and realizing the game plan will continue to be let everybody shoot 3’s on us and lose🤦🏽‍♂️

Davion Green

In Game 1 they passed the ball and whomever got a great look took the shot. This energized everyone and raised their defensive pressure. In Game 2 they went back to Steph is the best shooter in the world so if you think you have a shot, consider whether its as good as getting the ball to Steph would be. The mindset lowered their energy and thus their defensive intensity. That's a pretty big swing in points, and that's not the only reason, and its not Steph's fault. But it is part of the reason. Everyone heard "If you have Steph Curry on your team, you pass the ball." Whatever Kerr meant by that, it wasn't helpful.

Point Gawd

I see what you did there. ;-) A player can impact winning by making it happen . . . or by making it NOT happen.

Point Gawd

Podz has so far gotten 1/5th as much hate as JK, and 1/100th as much hate as Wiseman. But, yeah, use Podz as the example of someone getting possibly unjustified hate.

Point Gawd

Okay, some don't like people criticizing the coach. My criticisms focus on 2 things, only. These criticisms are based in both my knowledge of the game and my responsibilities in my job. In my job, every year we have to onboard new staff to replace retiring staff. Some of that new staff is green, straight out of school. When we do this we KNOW they won't be productive on day 1. But if we don't give them real responsibilities and chances to screw up, they won't be as productive as we need them to be on day 1200 (that's about their 4th year). And if we screw around they will leave at the first opportunity, AFTER we have already invested time and money in them. These are basic facts. ANY NBA coach should know them. And the Dubs know Father Time is undefeated, know that Steph is in his late 30s, know they needed to bring the youngsters along faster if they wanted to avoid massive luxury tax payments for an older (declining) star and also avoid falling into mediocrity. But Kerr, seemingly obsessively believing Anthony Lamb and such gave the Dubs a better chance to "Win NOW" (NOTE: He did not), refused to do what it is clear the team had to do. So, instead of maybe one down year, its now the third straight year of mediocrity. This could habe been avoided--and had it been avoided, Steph might even have more energy now as he wouldn't have given so much in the failed effort to keep a middling team in contention. And this isn't even mentioning the bizarre decisions--running out three short guards, keeping SloMo on the bench, pulling a hot Moody for a brick-laying Klay to lose a pivotal game, and on and on. I can live with the small picture "You could do it this way, or you could do it that way" judgment calls. But history shows nothing was gained by playing 2-way players over the young guns, and much was lost. Those losses will never be regained. And that's on Kerr.

Point Gawd

Trayce is just up and down. Sometimes he plays with force, and he looks good, alot of the time when doesn't, it's bad. Draymond should get in his ear. He has good speed, he had a good handle, he has good defensive instincts, but he just plays soft so much. If he can put it all together he can be a problem, but for now he's a backup quality center. We need a starting center.

Chaz G

Steve Kerr: "We won 4 championships with this system. Nothing's wrong with it. Players have to play it." . . . . CEO of IBM, circa 1980: "We dominated computers by selling servers to government, universities, and extremely large businesses. Nobody wants a computer at home. Salespeople just have to get back out there and sell to more companies and stop complaining."

Point Gawd

I said that 2 years ago and got flamed off of other sites. Two years of .500 ball later, and maybe people will start to accept that oldsters can be incredibly important parts of a title team, but for that to happen they have to STEP BACK. And supplementing some oldsters with another oldster is a very bad idea. No, for it to work the current vets need to be supported by up-and-coming young guns who have a coach ready and willing to unleash them. It is clear to me the Dubs don't have such a coach. But maybe Kerr is changing. I hope so. The test will be, if JK comes back this year, is he returned to his January role or, even better, is made a starter within 5 games of coming back, or does he have to "re-establish" his value to Kerr all over again.

Point Gawd

Most disappointing thing about Trayce is how he matches up against smaller centers. He can't do his thing if the other guy isn't bigger and slower. This is the matchup Looney yanked 20 rebounds on in the playoffs. Malik Monk may be my no. 1 for most aesthetic game in the league. Annoying to have him beat up on you. Can't get mad enough. What's goin on with in Miami. This feels like the Godfather 3 version of heat culture

Rory Noone

No rim protection. No second chance points. You'd think the FO would've noticed that in the last few years the tallest guy with less than 6 years experience has the weakest post moves. Dwight Howard - at one point I thought maybe this could work....even though it meant they have to wear a towel in the showers Opposing shooters are too comfortable. We need a Zaza Pachulia clone. Draymond can't do it all himself. Call me crazy but for the Kings game how about 1 2 dribble pullup instead of layups or 3s. At times the floor was open. The moving and cutting in the previous 2 games look good. Buddy Hield - Feel bad for him. Maybe reps in the G-League will help.

Bailey

Lol anyone see my comment on the last video? Trayce is so unconscionably garbage on the offensive end, that it makes me question if he’s an NBA caliber player. He looks like early days Damion Jones out there. All the athleticism without half a brain to do anything with it. How are you so tall yet shy away from fucking Keegan Murray? Kerr is A problem, but he is not THE problem. There is no one singular problem. There’s a whole host of them that you outlined in this video. But I’m going a step further off one of your points Alch. The Steph Dray 2 man game is dead. That’s very obvious. What I think needs to happen is that their minutes need to be staggered. They can’t be on the floor together. Draymond ONLY looks for Steph on the floor, putting all the pressure on Steph. Dray is the bigger issue here. Steph can play with anyone. Yeah his defense sucks now but I’m not gonna blame a 6’3 37 yo point guard for bad defense, when his offense is still pretty elite. Surround Steph with length and athleticism and he’ll look just fine. But Draymond needs to be out there with Lindy, Schroeder and Moses instead. So the ball can move around more. Buddy is just a bad basketball player. It’s that simple. Without his shot falling, he literally brings nothing to the table. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but how about more Pat Spencer? Especially with no Podz.

Jansen E

Get Vucevic! Need offensive skill and size at the 5

Chrisjordanfit

So embarrassing

Chrisjordanfit

I’ve been against a Butler trade, but these “nobody wants Jimmy” takes are getting to the point that he’s probably gonna drag his next team to the Finals on some vendetta shit.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Maybe I’m not remembering right but I swear I’ve never seen this many blowouts at this point of the season, not even in 2019 when Eric paschall was out top guy 😂 like I said maybe I’m not remembering correctly 🤷🏾‍♂️

Alaase Shambe

The consistent aggression and physicality from kuminga is something we always need without him we look even smaller and weaker

Noah Bailey

As fun as it was to win the game vs the grizzlies this weekend, maybe we didn't realize that the injury to kuminga may be the final death knell for our season and chances of making a playoff. Unless a trade comes earlier than expected.

B Master

Steph should take pay cut if he wants more talent on the roster. He is a huge draw at home and on the road, but his play ain’t looking like that of the highest paid player ($56M) in the league.

Run CTM

There's a story "The Emperor's New Clothes". Alc I appreciate your breakdowns very much but sometimes we may want to consider looking at it another way. For sure TJD is better than Looney for this team at this stage. We have to remember that Basketball is a team sport - a System - and I could see the frustration but we have to remember, we played lights out basketball with the same talent as we have in the storm of miscuses. That tells us it's the drivers who is steering the bus into the ditch. Kerr, Steph and Draymond. Both Steph and Dray are rising to the occasion though they may not at the elite consistency that we are accustomed to. But we cant throw Klay under the bus and be the scape goat for a salary dump for not adjusting then turn around and give Steph and Dray a pass. I don't mean you but Kerr. Kerr has to force the adjustment by his game planning and schemes. We pointing at Buddy, TJD and a whole list of player who Kerr is forcing to play out of fit or not at all. Buddy is a high motor, Pete Rose type with acceptional specific talents and skills. What this season is showing is that Kerr is not willing to deviate from his philosophy of coaching. Wiggs is playing great but not awesome. He is a #1 pick potential beast who is extremely soft, almost video game great but he does not play tuff. The NBA has had 10 years to adjust to Kerr/Steph/Dray two man play that has all eyes including the Dubs catering to Steph. Consider GSW is 5-2 without Steph because the team is not predictable without Steph. I suggest this why the bench scores so much when steph is off the court but let's not be naive and throw the baby out with the bath water. The bench is not Steph, Klay or Dray (Playmaker/D). Kerr needs to raise the bar of his coaching. Ppl complain Klay did not up his game but I suggest that Kerr has not up his gane as much as Klay did despite the injuries. Kerr needs to go to the drawing board and integrate plenty of Terry and Stack brilliance. I don't care how good Steph and Dray are, if you force JK to pass pass pass b4 thinking attack, or Buddy to pass pass pass b4 thinking let it fly, .... you will take players out of their element and worse mess with ppl head. It's a system. KERR IS DEMASCULATING HIS ALPHA PREDATORS. Since when is a 3pt shot a consistent higher percentage shot than a mid-range or worse a 3 ft push shot? Let the players eat what they instinctly know are great shots. Put the players on the court that harmonizes together and can counter the match ups threats opponents pose. Playing Buddy at forward in a 3 guard line up is suicide against bigger forwards. You point out Buddy deficiency but you can slot all of the guards in the froward position in the 3G config and it will yield the same result. Inspiring the team to be ready and charged to take on Goliath is Kerr number one job and his salary reflects that of a Steph at coaching. He needs to be that. His mind games he is playing lost Klay, never got JK and Wiggs floats between aggressive and passive this year. Anyway the nba don't pay me $17m per year so let me sit small but before I do, just know it's not because of the talent on the team, it's because of the use of that talent that has this spiral down the drain.

Dale Happy Knowles

thats really thing thing tho. I get that its a diff league w all the threes but it happens waaaaay to much to these guys

Mikey H

You know there's an issue when the 3rd leading scorer for the Warriors is Draymond. They need more scoring options. Everyone on the floor for the Kings was a scoring option

Reginald Payne

Steph just isn’t playing with physicality in a consistent way…this version of him is more of a shooter than a scorer….that’s turns him into a regular guy that shoots a lot…the scouting is out on hin

ntare rugamba

great points all around

Mikey H

Agreed. I also think they/we need to be patient with him. Especially after all the patience we've shown Looney. Neither of them are legit starting Centers but I like TJD better off the bench over Loon.

k. marcelous

How many times have we gotten blown out and humiliated and it’s barely January? Something’s gotta change man idk what

Alaase Shambe

Problem I see is that Steph and Dray are not ready to pass the torch and the young kids are too timid to take the torch. And Kerr is too buddy-buddy with the vets to do anything about it.

boca

Clearly, it's ain't all Steve Kerr's fault. But Kerr deserves a large portion of the blame. Kerr controls the rotations. The minutes. The offense. The game plan. The development. The focus/featured players. The opening/closing lineups. Kerr sets the tone. Lets guys know what they can get away with and what they cannot. Expectations and exceptions to his rules. And there does come a time when players out grow a coach or a system. When a coach can no longer motivate or improve the culture. Happens to all coaches. That's when you have to make a change. Curry and Draymond aren't going to change unless the culture and the system changes, or they change rosters. This is turning out just like the Kobe retirement years.

Thomas Ogas

Blame can fall in multiple directions. Steph and Kerr are a package deal of fault, as evidenced by the fact that they can't change without the other changing

yan't get right

Playoff ticket sales are probably one of the biggest revenue source for an NBA franchise. If we miss out on another postseason birth, I think Kerr is gone. Lacob is probably keeping close tabs on the Kings situation to see how their situation plays out this season. Just comparing these past two games, the traditional drive and kick was working extremely well against the Grizzlies, yet we somehow got away from it once Steph was back on the floor.

Jimmy Ji

Trayce is shooting an eye-searing 39% on layups this year. 10%+ lower than most of the team on 3rd highest volume. Ew.

Billy Roberson

"Steph makes 50-60M / yr. If he's a great shooter but no longer a very good 2way player (like in 2022) then we have to "protect" him on D" -- we've known this for at least 2 years now, this is not a revelation.

Neal X

As for TJD, I honestly kind of feel for him -- he's young, he needs some mentoring and specific training on how to play his position, and it seems very obvious he's not getting that with the Warriors. He needs to spend a summer with Hakeem or someone like that, like other bigs have done.

Neal X

Kerr can’t motivate because of his nonsensical coaching.

Sqk

Perfectly put - ownership settling for being a tourist attraction instead of a competitive team. I’ll bet just the #30 jersey sales would keep most teams afloat. He’s an international supernova. But holding onto the past sabotages the present. If you’re the model of a cutting-edge organization, as you portray yourselves to be, you face the hard truths, not just the fun ones, and get ahead of them. Bleh, such agita these “very smart people” cause…

deb m.

i'm glad there's other people who have noticed steph's poor defense. a lot of fans are stuck in 2022 when steph was legit a solid defender but ever since then he's been bbq chicken. he always gets cooked by bums. if you need convincing all you gotta do is watch the lonnie walker game lol. it's tough because we need someone new to come take some of the burden off of him on offense, but he also needs to be good on defense cuz steph can't really guard anyone. even if you put him on a 3&d guy who just stands in the corner, steph's gonna leave him open and give a shitty closeout. love him forever but that's reality

bruhchillll

I’m more and more inclined to expect Steph/Dray asking out at least in offseason, if not sooner. Steph is far more blunt in postgames about roster limitations. Yet I don’t see FO making more meaningful, expensive moves that instantly make them actual contenders. Unless KD asks to come back to ride out together, against all odds. Theatrically, I’d love to see this, as would the league! But I’m more likely to dunk. Get JK deal done at some point, get assets back for big contract declining stars and role players. I don’t believe Steph wants a Kobe/LA style ending chapter, loyal as he is. I think Dray rides or does w Steph’s future moves.

Chip Tingle

HOW do we go get Mike Brown?!

Sqk

I love a hybrid and would be happy to see a hybrid following a blow out win or just any win too! I too can see/feel this subconscious vibe in the team, which does seem to relate to the System, Steph and Dray’s 2-man game and Draymond’s ego. It feels like the rest of the squad (with a few exceptions like Wiggs and Loon) don’t feel comfortable around the 2-man game, and it’s as if they’re deferring to Draymond - not even Steph - because “only he has this telepathic link to be able to get Steph a shot when it counts”. As a result, it seems like the squad feel more comfortable when they play with one or neither of Steph and Draymond, because they can still play Kerr’s motion offence (obviously not the issue), without compromising it by deferring to Draymond and Steph’s 2 man game. If I could get a good first round pick I would trade Draymond and try and accumulate more assets for a final push in the summer.. Of all the plausible summer targets - i.e. conceivably ‘available’, and arguably ‘needle movers’ - what proportion are a good fit with Draymond? Maybe 30% of the likes of Sengun, Markannen, Butler, LeBron, KD, Fox, Brown, Giannis, Zion and Embiid. Take the club out of the bag Mike, and trade Buddy too. Between Kyle and JK we should be set for power forwards. If there’s no big fish in the summer then at least open up a some cap space, grab UFA Myles Turner and see what a Steph & JK 2 man game looks like in space, and with any rim protection, whilst waiting on the big move.

Stephen Jones

A big part of being a superstar is being reliable. I can’t name a Superstar averaging 22 on a team that doesn’t have to share the ball. The conversations we’re starting to have with steph now is as if he’s an X Factor. Those convos are usually for the 2nd and 3rd option on a team.

Offtopic K

Alchemy: Liked your take on the midseason review. Warriors are 5 out of 6 wins this year when Steph out of the line-up. But I kind of disagree with the comment about it not being Kerr's fault. This roster is built with Steve Kerr's instructions. He doesn't want any players with size. 60% of his roster is guards. Except for Kuminga and Poole, The Warriors have failed to have any kids drafted under his watch develop to be really good players. He let Draymond run Jordan Poole off the team and look at what he's doing in Washington. Should have let Draymond go instead. Steve and Lacob have somehow let Draymond run the show and he's only a bench player on other NBA teams. But the young guys seem to figure out, that Kerr has his favorite players. And I do know who is evaluating talent, but Hield and Waters are not that good. Podz and TJD are really only bench role players. I think Bob Myers saw this team ready to hit an Iceberg and got out.

Evets79

Doing it for a whole season is a key part of the superstar package though. That’s the difference between Jimmy Butler and Giannis. Jimmy can be the best guy in a series, but Giannis can make sure you get to a series in the first place.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Could he be any worse than TJD? He just put up 29/15 in the G the other night and just feel like we may as well see what it looks like with our current predicament.

Mitch Coob

I really hate Draymond sometimes, but he really impacts winning A LOT.

John Pettus

FACTS. There are always some adjustments a coach can make.. and Kerr definitely isnt perfect. But its legit people who think Kerr is the thing holding this team back from becoming a championship team 😂😂😂 Its hilarious but also annoying

Ballin Forever

Dude does not have an NBA body. He's looked kinda lost out there in the few minutes we put him out there. I know it's hard for rookies to perform in spot minutes though.

John Pettus

You're right Alc, he's disheveled. Great reflections there in the hybrid! Steph makes 50-60M / yr. If he's a great shooter but no longer a very good 2way player (like in 2022) then we have to "protect" him on D. Trace can't do that. Buddy can't do that. Not JK. Not Moody or Podz. Wiggs is the only ++ defender. And Dray can only muster it every other game (next couple contract years it'll be every 3rd or 5th game). I'm not sure they can really do something to be a winning team if Steph doesn't have the juice. He had it the first 15 games but he's tired. Steph will be in GS for 3 more years. Lacob will die on that. So we'll be mediocre unless JK can become a monster - and his handle ain't good enough - he started hooping too late in life

Gary

It's not obvious (yet) that Dennis doesn't work with Steph. I understand and like the idea that it's really valuable to have a secondary ball handler and shot creator to take the pressure off of Steph.

John Pettus

That said, if people bring *specific* ideas or data into criticizing a coach, I'm all for it. But it can't be shit like, "Don't take Steph out."

John Pettus

This. Casuals hate on the coach - without saying what they'd do that is obviously better - because it's easy and they're lazy and emotional.

John Pettus

There have been several games I was hoping would be a wake-up to the FO, but it doesn't seem to have got through. We need to build a team with length, versatility and size, then plug Steph in as a microwave scorer and be competitive and fun to watch.

Captain Rossco

Good point about not having our energizer bunnies. I think Shroeder is also a secondary energizer. But GP2 and Podz are like capacitors. They bring the energy with them, no matter what.

John Pettus

Exactly. If we drop a bunch of these next 10 games, the season is toast and we should look at strategic decisions.

John Pettus

Steph IS still a superstar talent. He just can't do it for a whole season, and isn't motivated to do it for the regular season.

John Pettus

Disagree. It's not dead weight. It's a team of all good role-players. And Draymond is an elite role-player.

John Pettus

You get the eerie feeling that no matter who MDJ brings in we will end up having the same issues as along as Kerr, Dray and Steph are playing the same way.

Ehter_293

It happens when you pay 114 mil your three vets (SC 63, AW 26, DG 25). The rest are either average or below average...3&D or stretch big would cost fortune...

Gsw4L

I'm not sure why the Warriors treated Hield like a Klay replacement. He is not that type of player. He shouldn't be playing 30 minutes a game. I really don't understand why those minutes aren't going to Moody. Even if he has flaws, he's young and can learn from them. Hield is going to do the same thing he's been doing. This is a failure of leadership by the Warriors org.

Goku44

Wasn't able to watch the game last night, but it appears I didn't miss much. I agree the Kerr hate is getting out of hand, especially on Twitter. There are of course always things to criticize Kerr about when it comes to his decision-making as a head coach (strategy, rotation, prospect development, etc.), but it's just neverending regardless of the result and I'm frankly tired of it. But like you said, he'll be here so long as Steph and Draymond are here. Right now, the most important thing they need is finding a stretch big. Vuc is the obvious target, even though I have concerns with his defense. Only other option on the cheap I can think of would be JV on the Wizards who signed for 3yr/$30mil this past offseason. Good screen setter and post scorer but has similar defensive concerns as Vuc and he's stopped taking 3s this season. Not really a perfect fix out there, but they gotta do something. Just so long as they don't trade for Jimmy Butler.

Nick Elliston

"Vucevic is shooting 63.6% on layups this season, not to mention he's averaging over 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists while shooting 43.6% from 3-point range."

Gsw4L

Kerr has criticized his young players for contested 1on1 action early in the clock … wants all are youngsters to be draymond-ess. #Let Dunleavy draft.

Jello Smooth

Trace is always getting pumped faked because he is always going for the block.

GenerationTRS80

We have 2 options, do what's best for the team and blow it up and rebuild or if Curry wants to retire with the same organization he started with then we will have to put up with being painfully mediocre for a couple years. Such is the way of all aging former dynasties

KuraiT

We have a lot of deadweight on this roster that we need to get rid of.

Omer Ali

And thanks for the shoutout, Alch, amongst all you do so damn well! What made me turn it off was the radically lower energy level from the night before. When we all see it, it’s ok to lean on 1-3 bench guys for more minutes to get an meaningful energy infusion. Obviously we miss two of our best energizer bunnies, GPII & Podz, let alone our star jet engine, JK.

Chip Tingle

I asked myself watching the game yesterday “when was the last time we’ve slept walked into a win”. For the past few years it has been very few games where we could win at half speed. This might be blasphemous for some of you. But wouldn’t it be smart if we did what the celtics did about a decade ago and trade the vets. Might be better now before the league figures out Steph is no longer a superstar talent

Offtopic K

The warriors schedule gets super light in January. If they can’t win a string of games this month .Pack it up.

mr.bean

TJD has been disappointing. It doesn't seem like he's even learning, he always bites on pump fakes, its either an open dunk or not. He is out of position and can't rebound as well as he should. The only reason he's been playing has to be because hes the only lob threat at center and Schroeder needs one to be at his best. I would much prefer Loon when we're playing with non stretch bigs

Nyeooooowmmmm

Which is why I laugh so hard whenever people are like "but Vucevic can't defend bro" . Please. Also shines a big spotlight on how biased and selective people are with hating on particular players, like Podz, and not others.

Neal X

Was Deki ever replaced on staff? Basic finishing obviously not there, let alone variety & confidence.

Chip Tingle

Sigh. Alch, you might have to consider getting a hybrid career at this point. I kid, I kid. Thanks for providing the group therapy we so desperately need. Hurts that we used to be the team that did this to other people and now it's come back around to us. Karma I guess?

Neal X

I think its just a bit disingenuous to assume Kerr wont utilize Vuc correctly when he won a championship with Beli and even started Saric last year. He’s utilized stretch 5s before We complained that he wasn’t utilizing TJD… and now that he is… we see that TJD cant even make layups against mismatches and now we want Looney back in the starting lineup 😂😂 At some point we have to draw the line at whats a personnel issue VS a coaching issue. Its a distinct difference.

Ballin Forever

Is that the real number.Holy hell that is terrible

mr.bean

Agreed Dr. Sanjin, it's a top down issue. The one thing I do like about Vuc right now is that without Kuminga we're gonna absolutely need a second scoring punch for a month. And if the ship is going down, seeing Vuc work his way into this mess would at least be more entertaining than the product we rolled out last night

Just saw BOS vs OKC, these teams ate on much much higher level than Dub. We are just at least two superstars and a smart coach short against OKC BOS and CAV. Forget that competing, let’s move on with Draymond and Kerr. If we cannot do that, we are even behind Jazz or Blazers soon

Natto Santo

Yea the Kerr hate is def annoying. But as a guy who pays attention to alot of teams.. every fanbase hates their coach. Thats why the coach is always the first head to roll. Just seen a bunch of fans on Twitter shit on Spoelstra... Its just the reality of a fanbase. When Kerr leaves.. they will quickly see the grass is not greener.

Ballin Forever

I think TJD is "slow" in the head. Like, he's not a smart guy who thinks about how to adapt from play to play. He has no idea how to make adjustments. But that's kinda the tricky thing. This league is a young man's league so he's PERFECT for when he's got someone else to play fast with him and play pickup style basketball which is what the "modern NBA" is: don't think. He's gonna jump at every lob attempt and be ready to goaltend every fucking thing. But yeah, he's HORRIBLE against proven vets like sabonis. We gotta realize as a fanbase that this 'two timeline shit' is just what we're on now. We have young players who need to be surrounded by mentorship to stay on the floor against proven opponents and old players who need young legs to run with young opponents. We're stuck in a tricky spot and from game to game it exposes the flaws with every lineup combination

Completely agree the two man game between Steph and Dray needs to stop. They have to play the same way they did against Memphis, pass the ball until you get a good look, regardless if Steph is playing or not. I will say having Steph, Dray, and Dennis on the floor at the same time doesn’t seem to work. I’d rather see Dennis play with the second unit. As for Trayce, I had made up my mind he was not a starting center a while ago. I’d much rather see Looney take his place in the rotation for a week or two.

Edy

I get your points about Draymond, but I really do think Steph is adapting or trying to adapt. Look at his shot attempts/offensive activity all year and it's way down compared to normal and not because he's shooting atrociously...he consciously comes out to start games with a mindset of getting the others involved early by operating offball, and then being more shot dominant in the fourth. How many times has he taken like 2 shots in the first quarter, 6 shots in the first half and looked passive? I think that's due to him trying to shift his mindset, but overall the system is kinda broken and needs a full overhaul, not a halfhearted attempt to adjust.

Dashaya Toney

Muahahah!! I KNEW you were gonna call out that guys hair line, "people around him, who love him" OMG so good. I was perplexed by that hair choice for sure!

Allison Hendrix

This team really needs to have some shame, getting blown out by the queens on home court. Where's the pride?

Andrew Lee

Trayce was never realistically going to be our starting center if we wanted to contend, it is what it is

Andrew Lee

Everybody tired of out, but it’s Kerr. We have Slomo right there allowing us to play Dray less, but Slomo barely getting played across multiple games.

Andre Brooks

Would love to see Kerr give Quinten Post an opportunity but that’s feels like wishful thinking.

Mitch Coob

Buddy is the one that make the whole tram goes down. And why Kerr still keep playing Buddy is so beyond me.

Natto Santo

Without Fox

Andre Brooks

Kerr up there sounding like he gave up.

Andre Brooks

I feel you.. and that absolutely could happen. But at the very least we would have a true stretch big that would allow us to play 5 out. So even if he isnt 100% utilized for some post attacks He still gives us alot more spacing to allow Steph DS Kuminga and Wiggs to operate

Ballin Forever

“Trayce-Jackson-Davis is 46-of-118 (39%) on layups this season. For someone who takes over 69% of his field-goal attempts from inside the restricted area, that's simply inexcusable. It's also somewhat bizarre given he shot 58.9% on layups last season.”

Gsw4L

Just want to know when Fitz is going to take over for Kerr.

Curt Dragomanovich

I dont have much faith Kerr will actually utilize Big Vuc in the ways everyone would expect. I have a feeling he would roll him out to be a decoy for continued Dray-Steph plays. "We have steph curry on our team"

Dr. Sanjin

If it was the cavs .I would understand but not even looking competitive against a kings team that just fired there coach is crazy man

mr.bean

Whenever you see “hybrid breakdown” you know something went horribly wrong 😭😭😭😭

Coreyy

With Buddy.. i think we are just the next team to fall into the Buddy trap. He is too small to get his shot off in small windows and dont have a good enough handle to create his own. The beginning of seasons.. defenses arent fighting through screens and closing out hard so he looks good But in this league... you're either going to be Steph Dame Pritchard Spida Kyrie Beal.. or Klay Hauser MPJ Niang. You cant be short with no handle as a shooter.

Ballin Forever

is Jimmy even traveling with the team? I think he's suspended for 7 games

james v

Kerr just accepting getting blown out at home is disgusting.

BruceWayne

Draymond strutted into that smoked layup. And the game was over after that. Annoying.

BruceWayne

Still saying we should’ve moved on from Draymond after he punched Poole. He just ties us down to the past and can’t move forward with him.

Diego

It was out of character for Steve to say that imo

Athletic Alchemy

Some of these games just really emphasize that we should go get Big Vuc. I think Vuc would relieve so much pressure offensively that in turn would invigorate Steph Dray Wiggs Kuminga. If Vuc starts to get cooked defensively... then we can run with TJD to bolster our defense. But what I see is that when our offense starts to sputter... we dont have a release valve. Tough shots lead to transition opportunities for the opposing team. Vuc can pick and pop and also punish mismatches when he rolls. And we have enough defenders in DS Wiggs Kuminga Dray to help cover some of his deficiencies. At this stage.. we need to lean in with more firepower.. in my opinion

Ballin Forever

yeah i mean im not sure what Im supposed to do with these games. Im always try and provide some sort of content around it but....

Athletic Alchemy

ive been waiting for this ... I live about half way between both teams, so i get feeds from both. A team that just fired their head coach beats a Kerr lead team by this much, on the warriors home floor. This Sac team is always been the team Warriors can count on beating. But a team that has their "star" player out, lead my Monk ( i love the way Monk plays offense) kicks the Warriors ass like this?!. Something needs to change. PS I hope TJD took some Big Boy lessons on footwork, pump fakes etc from Sabonis, because he got schooled.

Tyler Durden

Schroeder and Kuminga have been passing up shots at the rim we all know why, I’m gonna blow a gasket with this motion offense stuff

Sarcasm 360

The warriors are back, good basketball lasted one whole game in a 24 hour span, can anyone tell me what they did vs the grizzlies that they continued against the Kings? Because the answer from my end is “pretty much nothing”

Sarcasm 360

Talk about a huge letdown. Steve Kerr afterwards saying 'A loss is a loss" when they lose by 30 with "Light The Beam" chants at Chase. I swear-it seems like the Warriors are just interested in being almost a tourist attraction rather than a serious team. I guess I don't blame them-everything is about Steph as he's made the franchise a $9 Billion franchise.

Paul Hanson

Making these gotta feel like a job, when warriors don’t show up.

MaxShade18

I turned this game off early. So frustrating!
