The way I see it, I had no expectations of getting tons of talent from this team, so walking away with Will Richard ready to contribute next season is an absolute win.

Name one team in the league paying him 30mil/yr given what's he's done? Cap space will be at a premium until '27 and given the restrictions brought on by the 2nd apron who is going to invest in a player who has never shown consistent play in any of his 4 years? Most likely outcome JK signs a 2/1 player option under 20mil/yr with silent agreement with management he will be traded before deadline to avoid risk of playing under the Qualifying offer and gives the team the best chance to maximize his trade value. Win-win (or lose-lose) however you look at it.

Now as for Air Congo. They laughed when Jonathan Kuminga turned down the extension last summer. Said he was just a dunker. Said he was greedy. Said he blew his chance. Kerr continue is laziness but Lacob love him. Kuminga bet on himself — and no matter what happens this summer, he already got paid. Just waiting to cash the cheque. Always said JK just sit tight, get another Chip this year then the bag. Let’s talk facts: 📌 In 2025, he earns $7.976M on his rookie deal. Then he cashes in — one way or another: 5 --- 💰 Scenario 1: Stays with Golden State (Bird Rights Max) 2025: $7.976M 2026–2029: ~$165.6M over 4 years 👉 Total = $173.6M over 5 years 👉 And in 2030? A possible $50M bonus year 🟢 That’s $223M+ over 6 years if he plays it out --- 💰 Scenario 2: Plays 2025 on Qualifying Offer, then hits Free Agency 2025: $7.976M 2026–2029: ~$150M (4-year standard max) 👉 Total = ~$158M over 5 years 🟢 He controls the market, unrestricted --- 💰 Scenario 3: Sign-and-trade this summer Locks in his 5-year, ~$150M deal a year early 👉 Immediate security 🟢 Still wins --- So what’s the risk again? The Warriors’ owner calls him untouchable. Steph, Dray, Jimmy, and Steve have 1–2 years max left as a group. Why bet on unknowns when you’ve got a homegrown, playoff-proven, 22-year-old star who just dropped 30 in the playoffs after several Did Not Plays? Kuminga didn’t just survive. He grew into the future — and the bag followed. 🎯 They laughed last summer. This summer he is silently laughing. $7.9 and a likely Chip in 2026 plus a max bag. See the $150m was not abitrary.

Getting caught up. Draftees looking like thwre game will translate A+ into call up this year. UNdrafted Cryer looks promising if his shooting hold up

Dale Happy Knowles

I didn’t think he would and I said so

Irritated Inanimate

Left out a lot of players

Irritated Inanimate

Tooey's got those goofy Smilageech vibes. Richard lookin solid tho

Mikey H

that projected depth chart was horrifying 🤣🤣

Johnny Marko

Are you gonna break down Cooper flag vs Dylan Harper?

Steelpen19

mobley is for real a slob

paul reboca sr

Yeeeeesh

I think relying on player IQ is going to be a losing proposition if it’s at the expense of any athleticism whatsoever.

Irritated Inanimate

That looked horrible! There aren’t enough truly great players on this G League team to sign anyone to a two way right now. Our players are all too short, too slow, etc. They cannot match the force demonstrated by players on the other team AT ALL. At least previous SCW teams played well together, I am hoping this team has better team chemistry once they work together more consistently.

Irritated Inanimate

I think Bogut picked the best of a not great bunch, so Australian league probably isn’t the magical pick up spot they are telling us it is.

Irritated Inanimate

Really proud of Yang. He's the hope of Chinese basketball

Qiushi Hu

WTF is up with the warriors? Goodness, warriors need SIZE, players that know fundamentals and and a training staff that knows how to teach the gifted athletic young ones. Will looks ok, but I havent seen any excellent rookies since GWest left his advisory position. What players here would move the needle in a NBA game? Jebus, its hard to be a warriors fan. lightyears ahead of what... hubris bites back

Unfortunately my reservations on Toohey in game 1 proved to be exactly right in this game. NBA athleticism and strength makes him look far lower than any of his Aus League highlights. Small sample size in two games, but this Portland team is probably the closest they’ll face to an actual NBA talented roster so….:that didn’t look good. On the bright side, I’ve seen more than enough for Richard. I like him better than Moody already. Armstrong has a nice handle and good effort, but yeah he does just need to slow down a little and pick and choose his spots. Thanks for watching this game Alch hahaha. Always taking one for the squad!

Jansen E

He has to have some off court issues. He played 6 ganes last year, 12 mins, averaged 7 and 2 64% FG . I feel like his play makes him an obvious investment but no one has. Has to be something else

Sicarii Wendell

Could Dunleavy seriously have grabbed Toohey to satisfy Joe (via Bogut) and then still made his own pick of Will? 🤯 I still have hopes for Toohey but I continue to be impressed by Mike D, not least with Taran!

Stephen Jones

Yaaa people were calling Podz a miss in summer league too

KuraiT

Toohey may end up playing in Australia one more year and we’ll see him at next summer league with better handle. Or not.

Ivan

I appreciated that reporter, her questions were on point. I didn't catch the game, but glad you could show what little there was to see from it. We got a solid player in Will, and Taran should be etched in for a two-way at the very least. It really sucks that we're right back to square one with developmental 5s: Mobley isn't him, Bolden hasn't really showed much. It's been years of not having anybody bigger than 6'9", even kinda fringe guys like Kornet or Jay Huff would've been solid additions who could have def found their niche in this system. Oh well. Here's hoping Horford actually pans out

Karim Q

Toohey is a miss, the lead goes up by 10 every time he touches the floor, I really like Will Richard though, touch passes, skip passes, active on offense and defense, good IQ, Taran could be better than Podz with real minutes but under Kerr, someone would probably have to get hurt

Sicarii Wendell

Toohey and Mobley were very bad last night. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Toohey in his debut, at least offensively. I need to see more but it’s not looking like he’ll make the roster

Edy

I got a name, Daeqwon Plowden. Wherever he is, I would happily give him a shot. I know he’s not a big but if we’re still searching for a 2/3 then I’d love to have him. He impressed me more than any of these other guys and he played so damn hard, going vertical after everything, shot was money. Realistically if Richards could possibly take moody’s spot then we’re clearly not very close to competing for a chip.

Ford Carlson

That “so far” lol… yeah, I don’t know what’s even out there, but he definitely sounded like a man with a trick up his sleeve.

Ejikeme Uzoigwe

Will Richard is impressing me more and more, the dude just gets how to play off guard and that's a lost art in basketball nowadays.
