Whew!! This guy was quite the projectβ¦ there was a lot to consider with the colors and the structure, how much gore I wanted, etc etc~ Thankfully a lot of people have attempted this project already (I got a lot of my inspiration from SKS Props build π), so I didnβt have to do it too much guesswork when it came to sizing ππ
The 3D print is from Habiteer Workshop, and this was their THIRD ATTEMPT!! π± I have a big fat head so it was difficult for them to get the sizing right π I opted to have them print it instead because their printers are HUGE!! This helmet was only 2 pieces, whereas it might have been 6 or more on my tiny 200mm printers.
Everything was assembled, primed, filled and sanded multiple times, and primed with a flat black. All colors were just good old spray paint except for the teeth. I have a specific acrylic color mix I like to use for bone 𦴠The helmet was sealed with a satin varnish, and I added highlights and scratches with a silver sharpie. Iβve tried all kinds of silver acrylic and wax paints to add highlights, but I found silver sharpie works best! Itβs easy to work with and you donβt have to worry about sealing it ππ
The chainsaw teethβ¦ OOOOOO THE TEETH!!! π«ππ At times like this I wish I had a laser cutter!! It was such a pain to pattern, cut, and sand 300+ teeth, which were 3 pieces each, so 900+ TOTAL BY HAND (not to mention I didnβt like how the first set of teeth I made looked, so I scrapped them and started overβ¦ π)!!
The blades themselves have a mix of wooden and acrylic core rods inside to help keep them sturdy. And once the teeth were glued on, everything was sealed with plastidip, painted with a light layer of silver spray paint, then splashed with a lot of black acrylics to create a greasy, old gore look. Then it was sealed with a satin varnish.
The blood was my favorite part!! I mixed some red and brown acrylics with some 5min expoxy, that way the blood would still look shiny and sticky once it cured π₯°
Iβll be throwing on the whole costume this week in Vegas! Iβll be doing lots of photoshoots and creating a whole bunch of content with Mariah, so get hyped~ π€
PS: I know I donβt go much into the tutorial side of things anymore, but would you guys like me to go more in-depth with my crafting progress? Or are you more like βmehβ and like seeing WIP pictures? π€ let me know!! π
