Added 2023-10-01 19:14:55 +0000 UTCIt turned out to be TWO strokes, one right after the other. One in my thalamus and the other in my parietal, both on the left side. They think it was a clot, that broke off a bit and caused a second blockage.
I still have motor function and all my memory and language, but I've lost a lot of sensation on my left side arm, hand, head, face, and tongue.
So, for having two strokes, I'm in fucking great shape... but I did have two strokes.

That's horrible, but at least you've made it through alive and mentally undiminished. The rest is down to time, PT, and your body not fucking things up further. I wish you a swift and total recovery.

2023-10-01 23:55:41 +0000 UTCJeez. That's rough. My father was also lucky in that he only lost sensation on his non-dominate side. He was older and couldn't do much of the PT or really push himself, so he never got much better. You've got all my wishes that good follow-thrpugh on PT helps.
