Quest models?
Added 2021-11-08 18:09:28 +0000 UTCHey all! I continue to be blown away by the amount of people that support what I do! I genuinely stop in my tracks in wonder. I hope I get to meet all of you in one way or another (VR or otherwise) and convey that.
On to this thought. How many of you would be interested in a Quest version of the Magpie female mod and/or just the better tail mod? Or even just a heavily optimised version that you can feel better about wearing in large public events! Not have someone look at you and say "No rexes allowed, you laggy sack of polypoop!". You can then flex with "Dudey I'm Good/Medium rating!".
I got my own Rex model down to 20k polys but a lot of the detail is retained! Which is poor for quest, I know, but also keeps my clothing additions intact. Without them the model is 16.5k polys which means I can get a standard Rex down to that again. This includes my tail mod. Also works with my original textures. No need to re-bake.
Some of you noticed the weight painting on the Magpie is slightly different than the standard Rex. I fixed a lot of movement issues around the waist/crotch (for reasons), but this will slightly break any pants/clothing you try to put on there that were made for the standard Rex. Maybe I should branch out and make more clothing that works with it... I have a bikini lined up but the blend shapes are proving problematic so far.
I've seen some real jank quest versions... but thankfully the Rex itself was made pretty intelligently and it can still look good even when gone from 65k to 20k!

i like that idea, I've been thinking about the idea of trying to put *better tail mode* on Quest limits by my self.
