Little rack update
Added 2020-05-12 20:20:59 +0000 UTCI moved the firewall out with the servers (machine running pfsense... its brilliant) since the video i done what is now years back a fair bit has changed. the T610 has gone, The fiber & fiber switch has gone. the EMC san has gone, the rack server in the video caught fire... so thats on the bench in parts - that wont ever be coming back not worth the risk.
I now have some new (Used / ones ive sap parts built up) servers, the main host as the top is full of drives with one spare bay which i need to slot a drive back in (running 2 hot spares)
The R620 has been stripped for parts although still has a pair of nice drives in it, I have spare CPUs somewhere with a hand full of RAM to go back in 1(mainly 4Gb sticks) that will be coming back
The R710s are just loaded with higher capacity drives minus the bottom one for VM replication
The server that just came today has just finished patching and thats going to be loaded with 3TB drives for longer stored backups.
Sadly i could not fit my NAS drive in, that's also loaded up with 3TB disks
Next up will be to order Ram for pretty much all servers, thats going to have to wait a bit.
The battery backup is knackered, needs new batteries... that will also have to wait,.
Thats a mini rack update.... Its not pretty Its not neat but its functional on a budget- Some home labs on reddit are to die for, sadly servers over here seem expensive and as much as i would love some newer gear i just cannot justify the cost....
I also have 10GB Nics coming but using DAC cables rather than a switch because i cant afford that right now, hopefully backup times should improve loads since the 1GB network is the bottle beck at the moment.
