Continuing the pause + viability of unlaunching

UPDATE 23.06.22: Yep, I'm gonna hit that Pause button again. Not getting much done fast enough to also tackle another artpack. even at my worst speed i should get quite a bunch done in another month so until then; stay frosty, roll on into the stream if you got time and we'll be back to regular in August

11 more days until June is over and I've barely whittled down my to-finish old and overdue list. Unearthed more while doing an audit of mail and notes.

and that's not touching starting this year's comm run yet, which I've only felt confident enough to accept one.

So, to really clean the slate, I think I need another month's pause. Gimme about a week to tally my workload before pushing the button, depending on my speed and performance I might have to extend the pause to August. I put quite a lot of things in the backburner than expected during the pandemic

* Incidentally, do you get an email notification about the pause?

On to the next topic: long looong rest

Recap: I've been at this for 7 years now and would like to take a long hiatus someady. Had a discussion with helpdesk about it and it can go two ways:

The appreciable difference is my Founder's status. It applies a discount to platform fees, at Pro Plan it's 5% instead of 8%. If I unlaunch I lose my Founder's status, nothing else changes, far as I understood; I still stay in Pro, tiers remain, no posts deleted, everything should stay exactly as it is when I resume

In the overall picture, the permenant loss of discount ain't such a bad trade-off to be able to switch off my patreon, specially if I get hit with misfortune or long illness

The downside to an unlaunch is I have no way of communicating with patrons, so everyone's gotta join my Picarto for stream notifications, or maybe I start a discord server or something, to keep the Gao Haus going outside Patty. Another downside is without patreon I have no reason to draw lewds, but that's not important.

Anyway, that's the gist of my long break options

I can go on for a little while longer, I'll consider the break after my 8th year, seems like an auspicious number to rest on; and should my old bones decide it, end on

Everyone needs a break!

A long time ago, Charge Up Front was introduced to combat piracy. Before CUF, anyone could sub, take files, and unsub before the billing cycle day. It was not much, but it meant at least rippers paid a bit I jumped on it because even I a nobody got ripped. Unfortunately, the CUF process is irreversible, not even unlaunching would reset it. with CUF, I'm also stuck doing monthly cycles. Only way to do per charge is to start from a new account.

I thought Patreon had a "charge by delivery" option as well as a charge by month. I don't know how easy shifting from one to the other is, though.
