patreon

here we go back to the rhythm

well, that was an exciting 2, 3 months pause? Took a break first to tackle and start commissions, then the heatwave rolled in, and I coulda posted earlier but the past few of weeks I was down with a nasty bug.

the long break left with quite a bit of time to think. One thing I'd like to talk about is the state of my patreon

7 years ago, i started this as an addition to returning to freelance commissions. Patreon was a new novelty but there're stories of people already making absolute bank on it, so why not give it a shot as another source of income. started very slow and has become what it is now

thing was, back then I had this mindset: I was also arting in preparation for another studio job. so some of the art was designated for portfolio work. Designs, concepts, stuff I can take to a job interview

as time went by, I got less interested in returning to the workforce, with trickles of bad news and the state of the industry. I wasn't doing too bad neither, with effort I could reach my old job's pay grade in commissions.

So going forward, if I'm gonna keep this patreon thing going, first thing I'd like to do is de-emphasize the whole portfolio-art part. That way I can take 'design' out of my page description and have a simpler 'I draw furry stuff'. I might put out the occasional concepts but that would be as something fun to do, without the stress and baggage of making something employment-worthy
