A Quick Lesson on Transcribing Licks

Here's a little insight into how I approach learning licks and ideas off of records. Transcribing lines is a great way to add to your vocabulary. You can get the most out of the things you're learning by first, understanding the underlining harmony, and second, taking that idea and applying it to different songs with different grooves and key centers.

One more vote for Transcribe. I simply love it. You can slow it it down, you can transpose the song. Both Audio and Video works. Hope this helps

I find Transcribe! very good. I've tried others but this is the best I've found. Check out www.seventhstring.com for description and free 30 day trial.

What app are you using to slow down and work on transcribing tunes? Also do you have a post or can you create a post where you talk about your sound and gear? love your sound! Mark (aka Deparko)

Marco Redondo

Good idea, not just borrowing and adapting your favourite guitar licks, but sax licks too!
