7 Simple Exercises That Develop Complex Rhythm Skills

Hello everyone! I have a fun and productive lesson here for you all that is meant to develop your rhythm skills, no matter what instrument you play. I know that a lot of guitarists avoid this sort of training, mainly because the metronome is so painful to learn with, but this lesson should be much more accessible because it's NO METRONOME REQUIRED!

Here's the link to the video: https://youtu.be/CoBTWll93yE

I've also written a blog post outlining the same steps if you prefer reading: https://signalsmusicstudio.com/?p=29091&preview=true

I've attached the musical score along with the MP3 from the MEGA LESSON. If you don't have MuseScore yet, I do recommend installing it (it's free!) so you can load up the entire file and not just the PDF.

Hope you enjoy this one! It's precisely the sort of lesson that I wish I had learned earlier. We'll do a live composing jam next week, so keep on the lookout for another post from me before then :)

It's just a cheap hand drum, but I placed a microphone right next to it while I recorded. Then I took that signal and replaced the transients with midi notes instead, assigned to a kick drum sound. If that's not clear lmk and I'll make a quick tutorial!

send it my way Richard!

Jake: appreciate Your Stuff! I made an (interactive) Rhythm Web Page. It lets you create (and edit) Rhythms, on a Stave. So: you can create, play, practice along to, and export MIDI rhythms. I can send You The Page, if You get back to Me. You can use the Code, on Your Site, if You want.

Good stuff Jake, thank you!
