So for me turning shorter ideas into longer ideas, I started usingShakespearean ABAC, ABBC, ABBA, etc type patterns. and then totally breaking the mold with the next section.

2021-03-15 16:22:12 +0000 UTCWhen writing music, I tend to be able to come up with ideas and one-minute things relatively easily. But expanding the short stuff into longer songs takes me a lot of time, effort and frustration. I'm far from an experienced songwriter, I've written maybe a few dozen tunes tops (most of them short). Would you advise me to focus on expanding and finishing stuff, or to write a thousand short songs to gain the experience that'll help finish the longer ones?
