Hi Jake here are my question 1. What's the best way to use tensions and resolutions in perspective both in melody and chords ? With perspective of both melody and chords. 2.What does it mean when someone says a particular note in a chord resolves to another chord. ? Example chords 6ths 13ths 11ths etc.

Last time, you showed me how modes / keys can be ambiguous until the song reveals what they are. Now I am wondering the reverse.... If we are in a particular key / mode, are there certain tricks that definitively change that key / mode, and other tricks that don't? For example, if I'm using a v chord, I have most likely left my Ionian mode (at least for the moment). But if I use a secondary dominant, N6 or N7 chord, neighboring notes / chords, etc, then would it make sense that I am using tricks that are not the same as modulating or borrowing a mode? I could be using notes outside of my jurisdiction, but they haven't changed anything in the song structure....?? Thanks so much for your awesome help!!
