There’s this café that offers a variety of books for reading, making it a popular hangout for the hipster and cultured crowd who come to sip trendy coffees and enjoy light bites. While seated in the outdoor area, I noticed a woman in her late twenties with short black hair and hipster clothes wearing a shoe with chunky soles (TBH she looked like a dominatrix lol). Luckily for me, she was sitting outside at a table elevated above the sidewalk, right next to the street. I quickly chose the table next to hers, ordered my coffee, and began setting up my equipment from my backpack.
As I got up, I subtly placed my backpack against the back of her chair. She was so engrossed in her book that she didn’t even notice my actions, which I took as a positive sign. However, despite her focus, I felt extremely nervous in the situation. The position I was in and the placement of my hand—if she had noticed at any point—would have made things very awkward. I must admit, it was one of the most tense experiences I've had while recording.
To make matters worse, when she finally stood up, she noticed my backpack falling. Luckily, she just continued walking as if nothing had happened. Still, that moment added to my anxiety and made me hesitant about recording there again in the future. It was definitely a place that left me feeling uneasy.
