Progress report 0.6 update!

Hey everyone!
Today I’m really excited to share all the progress I’ve made on the new version of Broken Dreams.
This one’s going to be quite different from the rest, and honestly, probably the most special and exciting one yet, at least for me. I’ve been having an absolute blast creating new interactions for players to enjoy.

Every main girl will have both a good and a bad ending eventually. For now, we’re focusing on Natsumi’s good ending. I’ll do my best to avoid spoilers, but if you’d rather experience it completely fresh, this is your stop.

Like I said, each girl’s good ending will be unique, but the important thing is that they’ll feel like a real reward for making the right choices. (The game will now feature more meaningful decisions, but… that’s a topic for another day.)

So… ready to enjoy a peaceful life with Natsumi?
Here’s a list of most of the new systems and mechanics added so far.

1 — Events:
You’ll now get to experience unique, special moments with Natsumi that revolve around daily life, her personal goals, and building a genuine romance with her.

And of course… it wouldn’t be complete without NSFW scenes!
Right now, there are 45 unique animated scenes tied to specific events, plus additional variations I’ll reveal later, because let’s be real, the spicy content is a big part of this update. My goal is to hit at least 100 NSFW animations.

2 — Upgraded Sandbox System:
I originally planned to scrap the old sandbox entirely because it felt empty… but now, I’ve built a brand-new one from the ground up!
This new system makes interactions with characters, in this case, Natsumi, far more engaging. Expect events, life-simulation elements, secret scenes, character progression, stat growth, inventory management, and much more.

The flow now feels closer to a traditional visual novel… but with that extra bit of freedom.

Different clothing sets for Natsumi! Pretty self-explanatory, Natsumi has different outfits depending on the activity. The categories are relaxed, casual, and luxury. You can switch between them anytime, and if she’s in love with you enough, she might even walk around the house completely naked!

3 — Stats:
As part of the gameplay, you’ll now have to keep track of certain stats like hygiene, hunger, happiness, money, and energy, as well as improve other traits like strength, beauty, or sexual energy, which can unlock unique situations.

Natsumi also has her own stats: Love, Trust, and Horniness, along with different moods; Happy, Sad, Angry, and Horny.

Each of these affects how she interacts with you. For example, if her trust is too low and you walk in while she’s showering, she’ll scream and get angry. But after you’ve earned enough love and trust points, you might just be able to take a shower together!

4 — Inventory & Items

Creating an inventory system from scratch in Ren’Py was no easy task, but I’m so proud (and excited) about all the possibilities it opens up.

You’ll be able to buy ingredients from the store, store them in the fridge, ask Natsumi what she wants for dinner, and cook it for her.
You can also give her gifts, find special items that unlock NSFW scenes, and even buy her new outfits!

It’s not just food you can craft either, the plan is to let you make all sorts of things, from gifts to letters to personal items she’s into.

Laundry: On certain days, clothes will appear on the floor in your room or Natsumi’s. You’ll need to pick them up, toss them in the washer, and put them away in the right closet…
(Or maybe you’ll “hold onto” Natsumi’s underwear a little longer… and find a use for it👀)

5 — Minigames

You’ll have to keep the house clean, repair things, make money, work out, and maybe even take on a side job so you can treat Natsumi to a fancy dinner in the city.

Extra jobs include things like food delivery or remote work, plus, for the first time in your life, you can help students with their emotional struggles!

I know this update is taking longer than originally planned, but the scope of what I wanted to achieve has grown massively. The good news is that I’ll be able to reuse many of these systems for future chapters with Kaede, Hana, Yami, and Nobu, making their development much smoother.

I’ve poured a ton of effort into this update and learned more than ever before in order to pack in as much quality content as possible.

As some of you know, the past few months haven’t been great for me, I explained more about that on the Discord server, but I’m definitely feeling much better now and more motivated than ever to finish this update as soon as I can.

Im horrified, scared, happy and lot of more emotions by your game, wow dude, u truly did an amazing job, is by FAR the best visual novel i ever played. Keep going brother, u r amazing at what you do and your game has an aura that tells that you are very talented and passionate by this. New update seems crazy good and i cant wait to play it.
