The Masked Strength of Sect's Trash : The Lazy Second Senior Brother chapter 41

Chapter 41 Despicable Second Senior Brother

Xiao Yi carefully made her way through the forest, her expression tense. Her spiritual sense was extended like a radar, ready to detect the slightest disturbance. But something was off—what usually reached nearly a hundred meters now barely extended ten, leaving Xiao Yi feeling constrained and uncomfortable.

"That damned Second Senior Brother!" she muttered under her breath, her frustration clear. "A spiritual suppression array, a trap-filled formation, and a mind-confusing maze—does he want to kill me?"

"Isn't this supposed to be about comprehending sword intent? It feels more like I'm running for my life! When do I even have time to stop and reflect?" Her eyes occasionally darted behind her as if some terrifying creature was chasing her.

Suddenly, a sharp bird cry pierced the air. Xiao Yi's face changed, and she exclaimed, "Not again, you annoying Xiao Hong!"

A small bird appeared, and in Xiao Yi’s eyes, it looked just like Xiao Hong, the so-called "dumb bird" her Second Senior Brother often mentioned. But she knew this was actually her Second Senior Brother’s sword intent manifested in the form of Xiao Hong. Though it looked the same, this bird was much more menacing.

As it flapped its wings and spotted Xiao Yi, it let out a sharp cry and dove toward her, as if ready to fight to the death. Hovering above her, it opened its beak and unleashed a barrage of sword lights, raining down like a violent storm.

"Xiao Hong, you're so annoying!" Xiao Yi shouted as she frantically dodged. She had tried resisting the attacks before and could withstand them, but only once. That time, she had to use her only two magic treasures to block the sword intent. The treasures were damaged, and she barely survived the assault.

Since then, she knew that even though her Second Senior Brother had suppressed his strength, his manifested sword intent was something she couldn’t handle. For days now, she had been running like a hunted animal, constantly on the move. Each time she tried to rest, the sword intent Xiao Hong would appear right on schedule.

Xiao Yi dodged most of the sword lights, but a few still managed to graze her. She deflected them with relative ease, but the effort was exhausting. "Xiao Hong, can’t we take a break? I’ll treat you to some spirit beans when we get out of here, okay?" she pleaded.

But the sword intent didn’t care about her words. It wasn’t the real Xiao Hong, after all. Ignoring her plea, it let out another screech and launched another attack. This time, its wings spread wide, and an even more intense shower of sword lights descended upon her.

Without looking back, Xiao Yi turned and fled. Explosions erupted behind her as if countless explosion talismans had been detonated. The ground was scorched, trees were blown to pieces, and dirt flew everywhere. "Xiao Hong, you’re so ruthless! Just you wait!" she yelled, sprinting even faster.

The sword intent Xiao Hong chased her relentlessly, bombarding her with waves of sword lights infused with violent sword intent. Though Xiao Yi managed to evade most of the attacks, some still landed, forcing her to defend herself and leaving her in a wretched state.

After nearly three hours of this relentless pursuit, the sword intent finally ceased its attack, giving Xiao Yi a brief respite. She knew this was her Second Senior Brother’s way of giving her some rest, but the break wouldn’t last long—maybe just an hour.

With a weary sigh, Xiao Yi collapsed onto the ground, lying there without any trace of ladylike decorum. "That damned Second Senior Brother, he’s too much!" she groaned. The sword cave that Lu Shaoqing had set up was far more complex than the one Senior Brother Ji Yan had created. Ji Yan’s sword cave was straightforward, much like him, with no tricks or illusions. But Lu Shaoqing was different; he used every kind of formation, turning the terrain into a labyrinthine nightmare.

"How could I not have expected this? Of course, anything that Second Senior Brother sets up is going to be this devious," Xiao Yi muttered, feeling utterly hopeless. She couldn’t help but wonder, could she really comprehend sword intent under such torment?

"Forget it," she sighed, a wave of dejection washing over her. "With my talent, understanding sword intent seems impossible. I’ll just try to survive here for a month. After that, Second Senior Brother should let me out, right?"

But her despair didn’t last long. Xiao Yi sat up, determination flashing in her eyes. "No, I can’t give up like this! Senior Brother is so powerful, and Second Senior Brother is just as strong. How can I, their junior sister, fall behind? I have to keep trying!"

Yet, not long after, she flopped back down, disheartened again. "At least Senior Brother’s sword cave had a wooden hut where I could take shelter, even if it wasn’t completely safe. But this damned Second Senior Brother didn’t even give me a place to rest!"

Just as she finished complaining, something caught her eye. "Huh?" Xiao Yi climbed up a tree and found herself staring at something that left her speechless, an urge to beat up Lu Shaoqing welling up inside her.

There, hidden among the branches of a tree several dozen meters high, was a small wooden hut. Carved into the wood were the words "Safe House."

The so-called "safe house" was built atop the tree, concealed so thoroughly by the dense foliage that if Xiao Yi hadn’t been lying on the ground and happened to spot a tiny gap in the leaves, she would never have known it was there.

"So sneaky," she muttered, at a loss for words. Only someone as devious as her Second Senior Brother could pull off something like this. "I should have expected this. With his personality, how could he leave a safe spot on the ground?"

Just then, the familiar cry of the sword intent Xiao Hong echoed once more. The fiery red bird appeared, but without a second thought, Xiao Yi smiled triumphantly and scrambled into the safe house. "Xiao Hong, you can stay out there! I’m going to take a nice break."

But the moment she entered the safe house, her face turned pale, and her smile froze.
