Hello everyone!
Hope you are all keeping well and that you enjoyed the video on the Fall of Singapore. I've been busy working on video plans for the autumn, and can give you all some comphrensive updates on videos below:
Battle of the Java Sea Miniseries
The video that is currently closest to completion is the first video in two-parter centering on the Battle of the Java Sea. This first episode focuses on the Japanese invasion of the Dutch East Indies, picking up in December 1941 and ending on the eve of the naval battle of the Java Sea, which will be the focus of the second video.
I've also structured these videos in such a way as to leave open the possibility of a video on the land invasion of Java as well, but this would likely be further in the future if I decide to come back to the East Indies theatre.
The first Java Sea video I am hoping to have finished in the next couple of days, with animation ongoing currently.
Battle of Jutland: Actually a British Victory
A video that I've been working on in bits and pieces for well over a year, this video is getting closer to completion. I've finalised the script (gold patrons can see it now) and recorded the narration. Work on animation/ video editing will move into a higher gear once the above Java Sea video is finished.
Operation Spring Awakening
The main project for the month of October is a video on Spring Awakening, which was the last offensive launched by Germany during WW2, taking place in March 1945. It takes place in Hungary, and this video will also cap off the Hungary/Budapest series I did in 2019.
I'm close to finishing what has been a very intense amount of research for this video (notes running into 10,000+ words territory at this point), and will then move into mapmaking and scriptwriting.
I'm working on an idea to stream some of the mapmaking for this video as there is a fair amount of 'detective work' that will need to be done over positions of certain units, and I think it might be interesting to watch.
Plans for Autumn
Into late October and beyond, there's a whole series of videos that I plan to do but don't have a firm sense of yet. This includes the 20 July Plot, the 1918 raid on Zeebrugge, and the 1982 Falklands War.
I'll be able to talk more about these further into the autumn
'Full Series' videos
As many of you will be aware, I ran a poll the other week to get a sense of which Historigraph series you'd most like to see edited into a 'full series' video.
The winner of the poll was the Norway 1940 campaign. I've looked into it and it will probably take much longer than some of the others- simply because its more than three years old and I don't have many of the files for it. Also my work process back then was a real mess so it will be a challenge to get it ready for release.
In the meantime I've started doing some editing for the Malaya 1941 full series video. I've recorded a new intro and outro for each video so they flow together better, and am working through stitching it together when I get a chance. I would expect to publish this in the next 1-2 months.
