Pacific Submarine Campaign - Update 1

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well, and I hope you enjoyed the HMS Edinburgh video last week. It was a lot of fun to make, though perhaps hasn't got the same views as some other recent videos. YouTube is a fickle business!

Today I want to give some updates on what will be the final miniseries on the channel of 2021, on the Pacific submarine campaign.

In my last Patreon post I gave some general updates on the Videos I've been working on. Since then a couple of things have changed, namely that the 'Jutland: Actually a British Victory' video has been put on ice for a while. I wasn't  happy with how it was shaping up, so despite having a sponsor queued up for it I've pushed it into next year and am going to rebuild it from the ground up. I know this might be disappointing since its one less video this year, but I'd rather publish good content next year rather than bad content sooner.

So, pacific submarines!

This series will be a pair of videos, being published in December.

Firstly, there will be an overall look at the pacific submarine campaign as it developed 1941-45, including the personnel involved, the tactics and technology's employed and results it gained. My overall argument is that despite being very little known, Allied Submarines actually made a huge contribution to the defeat of Japan.

This will be the longer of the two videos- the first draft of the script (which I published for gold patreons) was around 2700 words. Expected publication for it is December 14th

-

The second video in the pair will be an in-depth look at a particular submarine battle that took place as part of the wider campaign. It's going to be about 'Ramage's Rampage'- a remarkable attack on a Japanese convoy by a lone submarine in July 1944. The aim of this video is to tell one story as a representation of what the sub campaign was like on a micro level.

Expected publication for this video is December 21st.

Both of these videos have first draft scripts complete, and I'm moving into 'asset creation' phase, where I spend a lot of time in photoshop to make what appears on screen, and finetune the script alongside it.

Munich

Alongside the sub campaign videos, I'm using my available research time at the moment to look into the Munich agreement from 1938, for a video planned to be released in January. I'll  have more detail on that in the new year.

As always, any comments and feedback are appreciated, and thank you for your support :)

Love the channel. These heroes needs to be remembered for the sacrifices they made.

I’m glad you’re committed to quality over quantity, it’s the way to go even if the algorithm promotes churning videos out all of these topics sound super interesting to me so I can’t wait, keep up the good work the last video was great too, btw. good call on keeping it as just one
