The final push to Christmas - 2 videos almost finished!
Added 2021-12-10 16:46:26 +0000 UTCHello everyone!
Hope you are all keeping well as we approach the end of 2021. I'm currently deep in the animation phase for not one but two videos on the US submarine campaign. These are going to be released as planned on 14th Dec and 21st Dec.
Poster
Alongside these two videos I've made an accompanying poster which you can see below.

This will be going on sale over the weekend, and as a thanks for all your support this year I'm going to give two posters away tpo randomly-selected patrons. If you get drawn, you can nominate any of my posters and I'll send it over to you in January. Make sure all your postage details are correct!
Some thoughts on the future of Historigraph
So as you will probably remember, in June of this year I went full time on Historigraph to see if I could make it work as a proper business. It's been a great year (which I will go into more in a year-in-review patreon post next week), and I've decided to carry on doing this full time until at least July 2022.
A huge part of making this work financially has been through video sponsorships. In an ideal world I wouldn't worry about doing these, but the amounts I've been able to negotiate have been literally the difference between being able to carry on and not- both videos this month will be sponsored, which means I will be secure in doing more videos into the (probably quieter) first few months of next year.
Also, starting in the new year as well I'm going to try and hire an animator to help increase the speed at which new content gets made. There are so many topics I want to cover and my self-taught animation abilities are struggling both to work quickly enough and to create the kinds of animations I need to explain a topic properly (see the Edinburgh video for an example- I wish I was able to animate the wreck properly)
I've realised in the last week or so that the only way I can scale the channel and get more videos made is with the help of a professional animator- and I think I can make the sums add up to pay for it with the continued help of all of you (and sponsorship income- alas patreon money alone doesn't stretch all the way on this).
It's a big step for me to work with somebody else on video creation, and its a bit of a risk financially if it doesn't pay off... but so was going full time on youtube without any certainty, so let's give it a go ;)
If any of you are an animator or knows someone who would be perfect (love history, proficient in after effects), let me know.
That's all for now- I will have another patreon update out sometime after the 21st Dec and before Christmas.
Josh
