Dev Notes

Intro

Maybe not a surprise but I want to start the Dev Notes with a HUGE thank you so much to all of you for supporting me! This build cycle was the toughest so far, just with holidays and being sick again and all, so getting the build out to you guys and seeing your support through it was really motivating. I'm feeling JAZZED about the game and especially some of the character redesigns I've done and game upgrades I have planned. 2023 is gonna be CRAZY! Gonna be all gas no brakes on New Hire.

Character Redesigns

Keeping the character redesign train chugging along! I gave Roy a redesign for his introduction, since I wanted him to fit a bit more of the personality I imagined when I wrote out more of his eventual romance arc. I'm really happy with how he looks now, especially since I was able to do that in time for introducing him to all of you!

I also made some changes to Calvin's design — this was a bit late, as y'all have met and talked to Calvin, but I just wanted a character design that felt a bit more warm and cuddly. As a white-maned wolf, Calvin's character was a bit less detailed visually and it didn't reflect his demeanor personality-wise much either. This change helped me give him some new character variations that matched his vibe a ton more!

Our Second YCH

Our second YCH is here! This time we're gonna have a very cute and very story-relevant Cafe Barista. The auction for this YCH will be coming out a bit later than usual, since I'd like to focus more on game development, Cade's Corner, and implementing our first YCH from build two.

I'll definitely be posting about it here and in the New Hire Discord when the auction is live, don't you worry!

Unfinished Assets, More Build

As with the previous build, I'm prioritizing asset completion to have the game's story progress without spending too much time on polishing some of the more complex assets (backgrounds, basically). These will be done on a rolling basis with each build, progressing through 1-2 from the last build as each successive build comes out, then that backlog will be high priority before full launch.
