So about Paitol
Added 2020-06-26 00:57:23 +0000 UTCI'm going to just do a quick run down of how Old Akarian (the progenitor of the Akarian Language Family, spoken by all magical creatures, evolves using the word, Paitol.
Paitol /ˈ pʰa.i.ˌt̪ʰol̪/ from Pai + Tol (All, Every/ Land, Space, Territory, Area)
After the Southern Catastrophe during the Fall of the Akarian Empire, The Akarian/Magical diaspora which was created from that crisis split into two major groups early on: The Northern Group and the Eastern Group. Speakers of what are now called Acarhdobh and Akaddubā, respectively. Or, Akoerdovian and Akaddubian. Anyway, here's the IPA: /ʔə.ˈ kɶ˞.dɔv/ and /æ.ˌkæd.ˌduː.ˈ bɑː/
In Akoerdovian, "Paitol" becomes "Pätow". Note how the IPA changes: /pæ.ˈ tɔw/. Very different from the three syllable Paitol of Old Akarian!
In Akaddubian, "Paitol" becomes "Pahītul". There is here, a starker different in spelling. Here's the IPA change: /pæ.hiː.ˈ tul/.
Rather than being a derived noun (all + land = earth), These new words are considered to just mean "earth" in both languages. It may even come to mean the substance beneath our feet and the two Akarian words for soil (Fim and Ker) could take on different contexts. Okay yknow what I'm going to talk about those two words in a separate post.
Now, these are also as of now, extinct languages. The diasporas continue to travel, evolve, and split throughout history. A look through the next phase of the development of the Akarian Language Family will be posted, uh, whenever I feel like it.
