S22 | Dig Watch: Anglo-Saxon Cemetery - Spoil Heap Q&A: Helena Hamerow

On Day One of our recent dig in Norfolk, Derek and Lawrence caught up with Anglo-Saxon expert Helena Hamerow from Oxford University, to answer your questions.

Helena shared some fascinating insights on status and grave goods, early Anglo-Saxon Christianity, and the debate over migration and invasion following the fall of Roman Britain.

You may remember Helena from her appearance on Time Team back in Series 17, when she helped us to locate a colossal Anglo-Saxon hall at Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire.

Watch that episode on Time Team Classics HERE.

Watch our earlier interview with Helena discussing that episode HERE.

As always, we have lots in the pipelines and some very (and we mean VERY) exciting announcements on the horizon, so please watch this space for the next update...

Wonderful! What a privilege to learn more from Prof Helena. She's always been one of my favourite experts. What a star! And D & L clearly agree. That old chestnut (Bede and invasion) dealt with in simple clarity.
