It was 30 years ago today
Time Team taught us another way
Mick’s jumpers go in and out of style
But they're guaranteed to raise a smile
So may we introduce to you
The act you've known for all these years

Sgt. Taylor's Tony Hearts Club Band!

It's wonderful to be here
It's certainly a thrill
You're such a lovely membership
We'd like to take you home with us
We'd love to take you home

We don't really want to stop the show
But we thought you might like to know
'The Guerrilla Base of the King'
Is what started this whole thing

On 16th January 1994, Channel 4 aired the very first episode of a brand new show called 'Time Team'. On 16th January 2024, it's still going strong with a global team of almost 10,000 members!

A big thank you to all the team and supporters over the years, including a special toast to those no longer with us, including Mick, Robin and Victor, whose legacy lives on. Here's to the next 30 years of Time Team!

Stay tuned for some exciting developments for 2024, coming very soon.

Watched it when it was on TV now watch on YouTube in the US. I've even got my American wife interested in UK history.

I remember as a kid watching you all and thinking how amazing you where knowing where to dig and what the lighter patch or darker patch had been so long ago! I came to Sutton hoo and spoke to some of you, for me you was celebs from off the telly but to you guys your just another digger! Keep up the amazing work you do!

every sunday night, while I would be working in the residential home for the elderly back in the early years of Time team,we would all gather, staff and residents alike to watch Time team.it became a tradition.

lizzy

I grew up watching Time Team! I still love it now. 🙂❤️

The best money I've spent in years was a YouTube Premium account. It allowed me to discover Time Team. Watching the episodes has added so much enjoyment to my life. My ancestors all hailed from the UK and Scandinavia and I feel like I'm learning about them as well the bigger historical periods each dig explores. I'm delighted to pay my enjoyment forward and literally contribute to more episodes. Thank you, Time Team, for all you have accomplished to date and keep up the good work! -San Diego, California, USA

I watched Time Team on TV from the start and loved it, I never missed an episode. 30 years ago you say, I must have only been 29. I was so sad when it stopped being produced. But I would like to say you are not advertising the fact that it is back enough! I had no idea and yes I watch stuff on YouTube everyday, it was only by chance that a few days ago it was shown in my suggestions of things to watch that I found out you were back! Obviously I immediately became a Patron and am slowly working my way through the videos on the channel, so sad I missed being on the flag only by a few days.

My most favourite TV program ever…long may it continue

Love it!

I discovered Time Team during the Pandemic and it helped me through it. I’m still watching the old episodes and I feel great contributing to the new ones. Bob from the States.

Robert Shaw

I can still remember watching Time Team when it started. I was coming up for 7 years old and was fascinated by it all, watching them digging all these holes and pits. I used to do a lot of in my Grandparents garden looking for treasure lol! Would watch it every week growing up and have loved it ever since. Time Team is always on in those times you just want to sit down, go easy and chill in front of the TV. Thanks for an amazing 30 years!

❤️

Penny Cilento

I have watched every single episode. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE.

Michell Adams

I remember watching the first episode on Channel 4. I often video-taped (for those who remember such technology) the programmes to watch later. It was a highlight of the viewing week. The crew, some who are no longer with us, were like friends. Here's to many more years to come.

John Eaton

Found TT accidentally on YouTube a few years back and couldn’t believe my luck. I am still rewatching old episodes and just renewed my membership for the ‘new’ TT. TT opened up my eyes to a new world. Carry on..

As Professional Archaeologists, Geophysicsts and Archaeobiogeochemists, We have been in wonder and amazed at the tremendous impact of Time Team over the years. It has been WONDERFUL that so MANY people around the world have been able to share the love of the humanity and drama of the past and how we ALL are a part of that past through the careful, science-based, but HUMAN, approach that the Time Team Crew uses of these new technologies that CAREFULLY depict how these technologies can be to gain insights of, JUST HOW, human people of the past lived and were just like us.

Richard Lundin

I have enjoyed all Time Team episodes. Was introduced to the show in Detectorists, by Mackenzie Crook in 2015. Now happy to be a patron and enjoy the new Patreon version of of Time Team.

Graham Stokes

I have loved and enjoyed watching every show from Day 1 until today in 2024! Thanks very much to all associated with giving us so much pleasure and fun! So good and now my daughter in Maui is also hooked on Time Team, yay!

Marisa Mia

I love this show up and watching it it's 1994 on Foxtel and now remember that I'm gonna take watches

I've loved watching the show with my mum and dad and other family members not with us anymore, good memories for me 🥰

Spud Man

My condolences to all of you for the loss of Mick Robin and Victor I've only seen Mick a few times in a couple months that I've been watching he is awesome, and I can't wait to see what the next 30 years of time team is going to bring love you all

Lewis Davis

People didn’t believe me when I said that this show did a dig in 3days!!! In the USA we just don’t have archaeology sites like in the UK. I had no idea! I love archeology and history. I want more episodes! So much history to leave to the next generation! And you make it so much fun! Love all of you from 1994! Those years were the best! Cheers for another 30!

Suzanne Fischetti

I can’t remember what I did before discovering Time Team! A great idea wonderfully executed, and bigger than the sum of its parts. Thanks to all who have made and will make it possible. 💕

Beth Durham

Mahalo Nui Loa, Time Team!! Thanks especially to Phil: I will never disparage flint again--promise!

Tabitha

Discovered TT in 2022 in rural RSA, and been hooked ever since. What I have learnt has been fascinating and very much appreciated. Keep going though I doubt I'll be around myself in another thirty years!

David Powell

Happy birthday to everyone, past and present, I miss those who are gone. I see Phil is married, hope it won’t keep him off the show. I liked his humour. I would like to bring him a genuine cowboy hat when I come home this year. Would he be insulted or inspired? Anyway I’m glad to see my favorite show again. I have even managed to get my son in law interested, something I thought would never happen in a month of Sunday’s.

Pat Seale

Time Team is available on YouTube

Carol Close

Wonderful. I’m sure Mick would be so proud of it coming back grassroots supported. It’s pretty much the perfect legacy

Didn't we all get old so quickly,.. seems like yesterday, all the the girls were digging away as they were pregnant & all the guy's had black hair,.. except for Phil & Matt.

Craig J Kondelin

You guy's have been together so long that you can finish each others sentances before their said.

Craig J Kondelin

Thank you for all the years of joy and for being the love of archeology to so many around the world.

Jack Webster

I know Mick would have loved the new Patreon funded incarnation of Time Team. I know towards the End of the 'traditional' TV series he felt it had all be dumbed down in favour of more light entertainment.... but these Patreon supported shows are so much like the old days. He would have loved it. It also proves he was wrong in his later life that felt the long term impact of time team on archeology had been lost or hadn't been successful enough. Everyone here has been impacted by Time Team, and its enough people to fund a whole TV show's worth of archeology content (which I'm sure TV execs thought was just not possible).

Owen Morgan

Love this...🤣🤣

Emily Flotilla

Congrats! Reach for the stars. I'm loving the news updates, along with the full episodes. The new team are all finding their groove, it's wonderful to see them become cohesive. -Proud Paetreon sine the inception. (Well, maybe I missed a couple of months.)

Emily Flotilla

😂 very good...

Patricia Amero

Just pushed a wrong button, sorry. I also miss Mick, Phil & those others from the trenches Brigid Gallagher & Ian Powlesland & Matt Williams. There are heaps of others so if you don't see your name here don't worry. John's gismos are interesting, but I think he should install sensors in a Land rover & be done with it. I hope Phil is still enjoying his ales but now he's hitched he might be limited as to what he can do. Thanks to all of you at Time Team.

Bede Browne

I cannot remember when I first watched T/T here in New Zealand but once I did, I was hooked. I've tried to go back to see older episodes, but some have come with the rider, 'not authorized in your neck of the woods', or words to that effect, lol. I enjoy Stuart with his explanations of the English countryside & John Gater who is forever coming up with new 'gismos'

Bede Browne

Delightful! Thank you all for all the good times you've given me.

Alfons

Its good to see someone appreciates some very good Liverpool lyrics, you can't keep a good Beatles song down. I have watched Time Team since the original start and have really appreciated the skill of the team members in their endeavors to uncover the various sites which were visited. I have learned a lot about the British landscape with its innumerable lumps and bumps which were just that until I started listening to Stuart explaining what they actually mean, I won't say I understand it all now but I don't dismiss them anymore. It would be nice to see some of the 'old-stagers' making an occasional 'guest appearance'.

Peter Farrington

Congratulations on a job well done. 👏

barbara blue

Wonderful lyrics ! Thank you!

Melissa Rybb

Although I came to this barely a year ago (while researching for a story idea), I have become a true fan. Looking forward to years more of great shows.

Eric Fretheim

Thank you everyone involved with Time Team since day one. You have given me 30 years of inspiration and entertainment. It is one of the few things my dad and I share an interest in so has been invaluable to our relationship.

Frank Pellow

Happy 30 years Time Team. Love the tribute. I found TT in 2020 & binging commenced. I have learned from & enjoyed each episode. Then I joined TT Patreon & have really enjoyed the new Digs & the monthly News shows. Thank you for continuing to evolve, grow & for including us.

Di

I've watched the first episode several times. Field walking and primitive geophys results that amazed everyone!

Theresa Cashin

Lovely tribute!

Carole Cox

Been watching since i was a preteen, has always been part of my life and now (only a few years away from 30 myself) I'm glad Time Team is back once again. Mick would be proud of "yow lot" for bringing it not only back to TV screens, but even more accessible than ever right in our pockets on our mobiles at the tap of a screen. Happy 30th birthday to Time Team, and a virtual toast to absent friends whom without, Time Team would not have been as big as it is. Im proud to be one of the (almost) 10,000❤

Gee Clowes 🏳️‍🌈💛🤍💜🖤

Get back…get back….get back to the trenches where you once belonged 😀👏😎

Stephen Southworth

I've so enjoyed the show over all the years, from the ABC public TV screenings (in Australia) to Foxtel's History channel to YouTube and now Patreon - not to mention my TT DVD collection. Thank you, everyone!

Kerry Hennigan

Grateful to be a cog in the Time Team machine, I'm in it for the long haul. 🍾🥂 Cheers to uncovering the past, in the present, for the future... Pat/ the Yukon🍁

Patricia Amero

Been there from the get-go ..... Loved it then, love it now ..... keep digging :)

Ann McLeish

I discovered Time Team in 2018 when I was going through some hard times. The show was a wonderful escape, a welcome respite from my troubles. I will never forget what that show meant - still means- to me! Cheers!!

Tom Kellogg

Congratulations I love your show I wish I could have been an archaeologist once in my lifetime watching you makes me feel like an archaeologist

Lee Powell

Congratulations

Eddy Booten

Happy anniversary ! 🎉Well done all 😊

Tom Gooden

In the very early episodes Time Team was not trusted to do excavations on listed sites.

Kenneth Crips

I just rewatched some of those first episodes. It's so interesting to see the technology changes throughout the entire series into the present.

Elizabeth Perry

I'm so sorry that Mick didn't see the impact of the programmes on so many people that we are funding it to continue new digs. I know he couldn't have done it without the rest of the team too. I miss Robin, Victor, the other experts who have sadly died, and also Phil and Francis and other experts who aren't involved in the new programmes, but I'm so pleased to see everyone else wanting to be involved. We also still ask the same question after all these years - why didn't they send Stuart and John in a day or two early to check out the lie of the land and bicker? 😄

Alice Hutchinson

I came to Time Team a bit later, but I'm surely glad I found it when I did. I love archaeology and should have been an archaeologist. I have the patience for it. Congratulations, Time Team. Looking so forward to more finds!

Candance Reaves

There was Time Team America which lasted just 2 seasons in the US. 2008. and than 2011. It never got any traction over here. for a number of reasons which Time Team in the UK does not have to deal with.

Kenneth Crips

Happy Birthday, with many happy returns of the day! And happy birthday for all us fans that we have such a wonderful show to watch, learn, and now support. Absolutely love this show (as many of my friends and family can tell you with rolling eyes), and absolutely love its evolution into a project we can all get involved with, and all the extras you now give us from interviews to master classes and finds. Can't wait to see more! Cheers, and best wishes to the entire TT crew!

Elaine P

All the best on this 30th birthday! I stumbled upon Time Team here in the USA during the pandemic and binged the show to the point my family wondered if I was ok. The classic shows brought smiles, laughs, intrigue, wonder, and hope into my home. And, the new version, which I have financially supported since the start, continues to deliver those same feelings! ❤️

Andrew Calderwood

Time Team is a treasure. It exemplifies great educational TV: factual, entertaining, and engaging. So happy when I found it on YouTube. And delighted at its revival. Many thanks to all the TT members here and departed.

Donna Shelton

I have a request for the current Time Team producers. Could we finally see the unaired Time Team pilot, episode zero that was filmed in Dorchester, Oxfordshire in 1992. I know Sir Tony said it was lost and only a clip remains but it still would be nice to at last see it if there is any hope of finding it.

Kenneth Crips

I was in at the beginning in 1994. Here in the states I had to bootleg each episode as it was not shown over here. It was a Sunday event waiting for it to be posted on the long gone bittorrent site UKNova. I have every episode of Time Team filed on my Hard Drives. It was a real blow when Channel4 caused major cast members to leave and finally canceled it. There was Time Team History Hunters, and in 1994 a short lived show inspired by Time called Extreme Archeology. Thankfully we now have streaming services were these shows can be viewed.

Kenneth Crips

Wonderful!

Terri Brown

What a great team! And a different but still great team as it has morphed. Still miss Mick, Vic and Robin, who were all wonderful.

Elisabeth

Thirty years, I can hardly believe it. You must be doing something right, I suppose so very well done and, indeed, a thought for those sadly not still here for the ride. I shall raise a glass now.
