Sally read Archaeology & Anthropology at Oxford, before returning to her native Yorkshire to set up a small holding. She’s a bestselling author of over 25 books on rural life, and is a columnist for Country Living.
Her latest book uses artefacts, from the everyday to the obscure, to tell the story of life in the countryside over the centuries. It’s received the thumbs-up from Time Team’s own Francis Pryor, who apparently “couldn’t put it down”.

And adding more in-depth discussions like this as Patreon exclusives, or answering questions in the podcast, feels "satisfying" in a way that sometimes some of the episode-related bonus content hasn't quite done for me - the stories can be told in a self-contained way, instead of having to wait several months for the actual episode before understanding what certain things in the bonus content really was about, or how this piece of the puzzle joins with what is going on. Don't get me wrong, I love the live dig stuff for the ambience and the Patreon exclusives are not the main reason for me to support Time Team!
