Dig Watch | Norton Disney: Day Three

Wow, what a weekend that has been! Our Norton Disney dig is officially over, and we're now packing up the tents at the end of a successful three days.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Richard Parker, the Norton Disney History and Archaeology Group, and all the local residents, test-pit and manor house hosts, and volunteers who have made us feel so welcome. And, of course, YOU - our Patreon members! Without all of you, none of this would have been possible.

Thanks for joining us, here's Day Three!

Don't forget: Dig Watch is your exclusive all access pass, behind the scences during the filming of a new episode. The full story and conclusions will be revealed following post-excavation analysis in the completed episode, to be released next year.

In the meantime, there's lots more still to come as the post-production begins, so please watch this space for more insights, Spoil Heap chats and 3D models in the weeks ahead.

Question for the final production: why are most of the houses in the village 20th century - in a village this old one would expect a wide range of building ages but the architectural past in this village seems to have been erased. What happened?

Richard Yoast

...the future of exploring the past seems bright for Time Team, I am so enjoying all the new digs, and updates on past digs.

Brett

I liked #3, we saw how chaotic, busy, and complex it is to produce the shows. As someone write here Stewart summarized well. It’s not the Disney family what matters is the archeology and the discovery of the life of people who lived there that counts. It’s nice to see how comfortable everyone is in front of the camera. I do feel as if they are talking to me. 😌 thank you.

Laura Soto-Barra

As always, it is a great pleasure to be able to learn about the past through the creative instructional efforts of all the time team staff and volunteers. Time Team people are terrific!

Mary Lu Perham

Chaotic but entertaining - Stuart nailed it though :-)

Difort

Yup, some real teasers of trial pit finds in the stroll down the high street.

Nick Butt

Plenty of content for a Dig Watch, thank you Time Team crew! Soooo many people involved in the dig, it must be HARD to keep everything from falling into absolute chaos. :)

Jakub JΕ―zl

Just wanted to say that has someone who doesn’t do social media, bit disappointed not to be able to see Meg’s updates, but I have loved the updates here!

Julied123

We can't wait too, but it'll be worth it! In the meantime, there's a load of other upcoming releases in the months ahead, including this year's highlights from Digging Band of Brothers in Aldbourne, our investigation of a B17 bomber in Suffolk, the lost Medieval abbey at Cerne Abbas, and adventures in the Scottish Isles...

Time Team

Hi.... I was also there too! I was directing a different team and hiding from the Dig Watch cameras! I have busy been helping George set everything up whilst shooting and developing more Time Team content and planning for next year too! Now I'm heading back to the edit suite to get the post production underway for Sutton Hoo and all the other goodies we filmed over the Summer.

Emily Boulting

Brilliant. The excitement and energy are just wonderful... Post-ex will be long and interesting, I can't wait to see & hear the results from this action-packed 3-day investigation. 🦁 Cheers everyone!

Patricia Amero

I think we are in a new golden age of Time Team. These are wonderful new digs with great people - long time friends and new ones. I can hardly wait to see the completed show, but I’m also loving Dig Watch. πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Ann Wagner

Good to see Derek doing some orienteering! I'm still waiting for Stewart to pull out an orienteering map to show lumps and bumps in the terrain.

Jeff Lanam

I've really enjoyed these Dig Watch episodes. Can't wait to see the finished production.

DIANA R NELSON

That was amazing. I love these, and nothing was given away either!

Jenna Tomlin

What was really nice is, as busy as the archeologists were, they were always ready to help and offer theories and expert opinions on your finds and bring everything together in a clear picture, while taking the time to listen and be invested in what you think you've found 😁

Matt Valentine

Welcome George, the Director. Where’s Emily?

Pat Szastkiw

They've perfected the art of giving nothing away - better than previous Dig Watches. And still made all three days' videos really interesting.

Martin Packer

That was the spirit we observed earlier this year at Sutton Hoo.

Martin Packer

I'm intrigued by the idea of animating some of the Disney ancestors! I can't wait to see what Neil does with that. If you're interested in his work, check out "The Middle Ages - A Graphic History", which is a super fun read.

Stephanie Hogan

Hi all, I thourly enjoyed all three days of live dig. Even the shots of the reinstated gardens after test pitting. Keep up the brilliant work, I looking forward to the full three day video. It's great to see and hear from the volunteers too.

Barry Jones

I enjoyed being on this dig so much, everyone was so friendly and informative, I've learnt so much over the last few days. Will definitely be volunteering again in the future πŸ˜€πŸ‘πŸ»

Matt Valentine

Now for the interminable wait for the 3-day Full Episodes! Augh!

JanD

Loved the test pit visits! Plus being a musician myself, the focus on the importance of music in medieval life was priceless!

John Keady

Wow! The performance on the sheep bone flute was very accomplished. Loved the music. Dig watch is well worth the Patreon membership. Thanks all πŸ˜€

Rachel

26 test pits to visit in one day ... I'm unsurprised you didn't make it round all of them! Even at 10 minutes per pit, that would have taken you over 5 hours πŸ˜‚

Wessex-Wyvern

This looks brilliant. All those teasers – I can't wait to see the finished episode.

Julianne Ture

It's sounds really better than it looks πŸ˜…πŸ‘

Chris

I can’t wait for this episode to drop. I’m also waiting for the new podcast .

Chris DeAngelo

Thanks to all. We are looking forward to the final production.

Mark & Jill Jefson

Day three, and more fun from the jolly diggers.

Alan McMillan

I can't wait for the episode to drop. These 3 Dig Watch episodes have really teased the excitement of the site
