like. base 6 radix. 6 unique characters in a positional notation system.
but what if
not positional???
perhaps... bijective??????
anyway my main problem is that i never liked how the numeral symbols came out. so! i decided to go the Greek/Latin route and just. simply. use letters as numbers.
okay so heres the list of numbers with dedicated symbols in Akarian: i probably shouldve posted the New and Improved Akarian alphabet first... anyway
1 = Be
2 = Gi
3 = Da
4 = El
5 = Ve
6 = Ghe
12 = Ur
18 = Za
24 = Iz
30 = Khe
36 = Ka
72 = La
108 = Me
144 = Nu
180 = Sa
216 = An
432 = Pe
648 = Re
864 = Lhi
1080 = Fe
1296 = Ta
heres some example numbers:
200 = Gizasa or "2 plus 18 plus 180".
notice how the numbers are ordered least to greatest.
400 = Elansa or "4 plus 216 plus 180".
now perhaps you are wondering, why are the numbers not ordered smallest to biggest for 400? a valid question. numbers in Akarian have to adhere to Akarian phonotactic rules. if we were to use a formulation of smallest to biggest, we would have "Elsaan". it is forbidden for a vowel to repeat itself, as "a" does here. also, if we can help it, we want to preserve the smallest digit to go first, so "Saelan" cant be our first choice if another option exists. it does. Its "Elansa".
1303 = Begheta or "1 plus 6 plus 1296"
651 = Daanpe* or "3 plus 216 plus 432"
We want those two a's to be separated and for the 3 to remain first. the answer is obvious: switch the an and the pe.
651 = Dapean or "3 plus 432 plus 216"
and the monstrosity Begidaelveurzakhekalamenuomansaperelhifeta equals 5181. is this the largest number possible?
no! :D
this is the largest possible number of a Set. Within a Set, each numeral can only be written once. however, to start a new Set, simply make a hyphen, and reverse the rule about ordering digits smallest to biggest!
so imagine we want to make 5194, which is thirteen more than 5184. this means we should tack on "Beur". but, since this is a new set, we add it on as "Urbe", making "Begidaelveurzakhekalamenuomansaperelhifeta-Urbe". These numbers can get super long, so to pare it down a bit, speakers can eliminate the vowel after consonant digits if there is a vowel digit immediately following it. This would make the 5194 horror into "Begidelvurzakhekalamenomsanperelhifeta-Urbe". Which is, regrettably, still horrifying. but i like it. Notice how this doesnt follow for the second set even though we should be able to delete the "a" in "ta" since "ur" is right after it. Its not: theres a hyphen there. so you cant.
for fun: 10382 is Begidaelveurzakhekalamenuomansaperelhifeta-Tafelhirepeansaomnumelakakhezaurelvedagibe. wasnt that fun?? are you not engaged?????
anyway thats Akarian Numerals.
