finally watching **WAKANDA FOREVER** for the first time 💔😭 | movie commentary!!

this was a PAINFUL PAINFUL PAINFUL experience, but i’m glad i finally watched it bc it was also a beautiful tribute 🥺 & it was good to see riri’s introduction before ironheart drops - i’m excited to see her in her own show now :’)

also, there are a few minor thunderbolts spoilers in this (mostly about val lol) (bc what do you MEAN she & ross WERE MARRIED?!!? still shocked, still shooketh) so just a warning if you’re waiting to watch that & wanted to go in as spoiler-free as possible :)

but thanks for watching guys!! i’ll see ya for the next one :)

@0:44: The way she wasn't even by his side. If he's passed while she was there, she'd be kicking herself for not being in her lab trying to cure him. @4:15: Ma'am, I don't know how to break this to you, but your entire side hustle is wholly reliant on undersea cabling. @6:53: "Somehow, Darcy would live." I am 119% on board with Darcy being a secret mutant whose power is plot armor. @8:49: Ramonda grabbing that spear makes me believe the truest fact about the MCU is that she is former Dora Milaje. @13:20: Listen, I came here for movie commentary, and now I'm considering forgetting everything I ever learned about differential equations if you'll make tutoring videos. The MCU loves its funerals--Natasha's excluded--and they couldn't resist tossing one too many in here. So much of this movie had this echo of "Life isn't fair, but you still have to face it." Talokan wanted a home safe from outsiders, or for there to be no outside. Wakanda in grief felt justified on reneging on T'Challa's promise to help the world, and it turns out they never trusted them in the first place. Of course the resolution is for Shuri to show compassion when Namor was at his more vulnerable.

I saw this in theatres a few months after my father died. It was both a painful and beautiful experience. I cried my eyes out.

Anneli

I’d be more worried about her finishing up the X-Men films first.

Referring to Namor: “You mean like a mutant mutant?” Yes. Namor in the comics is a mutant. It’s rare (but not entirely unheard of) for him to spend time with the X-Men, but he has been referred to as “Marvel’s First Mutant” (since he appeared in Marvel Comics #1), and “Marvel’s Mightiest Mutant” (he is one of the physically strongest mutants in the Marvel Universe) as a tagline for his comics.
