Another cost increase. π

For those of you who aren't aware, Moksha is a submission management platform. Many speculative fiction magazines use Moksha because it allows us to easily add and remove first readers, who can jump right in and start ranking submissions.
However, this cost is substantial. To make up the difference and cover this increase, we'll need to add at least 5 more $3 Patreon subscribers, and those patrons would need to stay with us the entire year.
Unfortunately, Moksha is the most affordable solution, so there is no alternative for us to consider, except moving to open/closed periods. If we switch to a monthly plan, we'll pay more per month that we're open ($75 vs $63) but we can reduce that overall Moksha cost to $300/year.
This will mean:
- We will only be open for submissions for two weeks each quarter.
- We will only have two weeks each quarter to evaluate and select submissions.
In a way, this model is sort of appealing to me, but this would be a big change in how we operate, and I won't have time to put together the messaging and protocol changes before we lose access, so I'll have to swallow this cost (this time) while Monica, Tim, and I try to figure out what to do next year.
