Hope you guys are taking a nice break this Friday, from school, work, whatever it might be! Friday actually tends to be my busiest day, though I've been getting a lot of work done this week already!
This week I have an old project for you guys, from around the days of Sample Heaven! I know it was around that time because of the J-Pop samples, which this track is full of. At the time, I was planning to build the Sample Heaven album around the idea of mainly sampling J-Pop tracks! However, after getting plenty of collaborations done with other producers I decided to go in a slightly different direction. You can still catch hints of the J-Pop sample concept in tracks such as Heart Rhythm, Cool Song, Sample Heaven, Our Melody, and Break, which I consider this track a sequel to!
While Break ended up on my new album, it was actually created around the time I was doing Sample Heaven, which I've probably mentioned before! I see this track as a bit of a sequel due to the whole J-Pop sampling similarity, which Break is full of! This track is similarly chill and full of Japanese samples, so I don't think it's a stretch to consider both tracks as being in the same kind of universe!
I'm kind of kicking myself for not finding this thing earlier, as I still think it would've been great as a bridge from Mono to Break on Now That I Have You. I've heard the critique that my last record was a bit too short, so having an extra track in there might have been a nice move. But hey, I'll forget about that and look to the future! I still think NTIHY is my best album, and I think it's miles better than anything else in my catalogue. I think it's even leaps and bounds above what I was doing on Sample Heaven!
