More Shape Language in Amir's Monster Form - A Chonky Look
Added 2022-06-23 22:36:07 +0000 UTCSo last time, I showed yall some preliminary work Atlas laid out for Amir's succubus form and I have round 2 ready to show yall today. So first, after looking at multiple body shapes, Atlas combined our favorite features into two general silhouettes.

We both really liked the combination of corporeal solidness and ethereal smokiness so we really leaned hard into a body shape that could incorporate a mix of both.

We deliberated really hard about what to do with this man's face. On one hand we really wanted to preserve a monstrous vibe but on the other, Amir being a succubus is all about pretense and allure. In the end we decided to keep his face more human than not, though we kept many monstrous features like multiple eyes + fangs + horns. With the rest of his body being weird and less human, we decided keeping a recognizable face was a good call.
Funfact! Atlas worked really hard to incorporate classical Egyptian imagery into Amir's look as he is about half Egyptian himself (he has mixed heritage but Egyptian is the largest single part) and making strong thematic links to his cultural background was something we both wanted. On his face he's got both the eye of Rath and the eye of Thoth, symbolizing opposing masculine and feminine energy on a character who is strong with both. Additionally, while the succubus is generally attributed to Hebrew myth, pre-Islamic Arabic legends exist of something called a qarinah, another seductive night time monster but more ghostly. As you can see we really wanted to incorporate the vibes these elements provide as a visual sort of expansion on what Amir actually is.

Atlas and I are both very attached to the idea of Amir having a kind of "core" as a monster and you can see here that Atlas has really put in the work to anchor a lot of his form to the general shape. Also the complex parts and pieces really scream Amir to me anyway since his fashion tastes are so elaborate.

Ultimately, we went with a more solid-appearing tail that I love very much.

And of course, we had to sex him up a bit too. Amir's movements are very slinky and we wanted that to come through even as a monster. Which ultimately brought us to a design that's hovering around here:

His Final Form is still a secret for now but you can see that it takes quite a lot to build a succubus from the ground up. Stay tuned for part 3 and later this week I'll have final logo designs up and ready for viewing. :D
