As many of you probably know, last month the SCP wiki opened up a contest for the 8000 slot on the wiki! After a month of writing, sharing, and reviewing, the results have been tallied, and we have the beginning of Series 9!
In first place, taking the coveted 8000 slot is PlaguePJP's "The Seal of Approval." In second place, taking 8999 was JDune's "Feeding the Trolls." And the third highest voted entry was djkaktus' "The Edge of the World" taking 8001.
It was a pretty tight race right up until the end, this year had some incredible entries coming through! That's perhaps my favorite part of these contests- every year the writing gets better and better!
Our show started just a little over five years ago, back on Series 5 (4000-4999). Pretty shortly after we started they opened up the 5kcon, and almost a year later came 6k.
It seems the wiki is filling up faster and faster every year, with a lot of veteran writers continuing their tenure, and a ton of incredible new writers joining their ranks.
While there's a handful of recognizable authors on this year's contest, I was shocked to see how many author's names I didn't recognize! And that's a really good thing. This community persists and grows in really exciting ways and I'm glad to be just a small part of that bigger picture.
All of this to say, you can read Series 9 now, there are so many incredible stories! And our show plans to dive into them later this year! While I haven't had the pleasure of reading all of this years entries, here is a short list of some of the ones I've read & enjoyed so far!
What have you read so far? Any articles I should read next??
