Where did August go? We're almost done with the month, and despite my summer plans being mostly over with I'm busier than ever. I don't anticipate any real delays in posting but some posts (notably, this week's post) may slide by a day or two due to my work ramping up significantly for a while. There should still be 1 post per week but those posts may come at odd times.

It's horrible timing, I know, because this is really getting into the ending parts of the story. However, because I'm wrapping up so many plot threads there's a lot more research and thoughtful composition involved than in the middle of the story where I could just yeet stuff into the post without doing too much reference work. I want to make sure things get tied up well, with all of the side characters and thematic questions able to have a proper and satisfying resolution. I have spent too long on this stupid story to screw up now!

So, unfortunately, my posting may be a touch less consistent than usual as we go forward. The chapters may vary in length slightly more than average, and as I mentioned earlier they may come out at odd times. In the interest of not spamming you all I won't be making separate posts for each minor delay.

That said, I'd like to reiterate that I don't see myself taking a skip week and will announce that separately if it proves to be the case. It's likely that I'll take a bit of extra time before releasing the final chapter, when it comes, since I typically like to make finales at least twice the length of a normal chapter for pacing purposes and they take commensurately longer to write.

Since I know someone will ask - I still don't know precisely how many chapters are left in the story but I'm now thinking that it'll probably be around ten more? May be more, may be less, but I'm very confident now that we'll wrap up in 2023 like I had planned.

Thanks for sticking with me for so long. It's been a wild ride! Here's to finishing what we start.
