We want your opinion!

Hello dear Patrons!

If you've watched our latest video (https://www.patreon.com/posts/60863413/), you've probably noticed the black squares we used for censorship. And that is exactly what we would like to talk to you about.

As you may know, we need to censor our videos completely (including butts) to make sure that they are not put to 18+. We can asure you, we hate this as much as you do, but there is no way around this. We have been testing with different types of censorship:

1. Cover up: Use a sarong or clothes to hide our nudity. Works perfectly for YouTube.

2. Blurring: You've seen the pixelations in our videos. We think that this looks the most natural, but it's also the biggest risk on YouTube because sometimes it's still recognised as nudity. Examples where our blurring was wrongly interpreted are the videos about Athena Helios (https://youtu.be/fnYC_syXitQ) and La Jenny (https://youtu.be/cxKx4fLaEWU).

3. Black squares: It doesn't look all that nice but it seems to be perfect to avoid censorship. And we think that we can do fun things with this too, like using different colours, there are quite a lot of fun options.

So here's our question to you: We know that you hate censorship as much as we do, but if you had to choose, which type would you choose?

One of our goals for 2022 is to really put effort into creating better Patreon Only content. So who knows what will be coming towards you 😁

I see the point of censoring content for use with other social medias. However, this is Patreon after all; some occasional uncensored content just for Patreon would be refreshing. Otherwise, why use Patreon at all except for funding.

That's the big difficulty with blurring. Our videos are automatically scanned by YouTube processes that search for copyright infringements, hate speech, nudity, etc. Blurring makes certain parts unrecognisable, but keeps the skin tones and therefor these processes can confuse blurred parts as nudity. In most cases, this means that we have to appeal and after a couple of days YouTube will admit that they were wrong and remove the adult label. But it all depends on the person who is checking the video. If that person does conclude that our video has to be considered "sensitive", there's is nothing we can do about it (which happened for example to our videos of La Jenny, Athena Helios, and Suncave Gardens). By using the black squares, it's much less likely that our video will be flagged by the automatic processes, which means that we don't have to go through the mess of appealing and hoping for the best.

Blurring seems like the best option to me, but if it’s too risky and could effect your income maybe it’s not the best option. You guys do such a Great job, I don’t think any of us would want Unreasonable Censoring to slow you down
